MSAI (Microsoft Search, Assistance and Intelligence) organization plays a key role in Microsoft to build products that help boost Enterprise users’ productivity. We help users find relevant artifacts and get their daily jobs done in timely and efficient manner. MSAI is now responsible to deliver M365 Chat which uses LLMs and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to help users find, summarize, act upon their work data in an interactive pattern.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to impact millions of enterprise users and help them be more productive and efficient by building the next set of intelligence features around search & recommendations in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Responsibilities

You will work with a team of applied scientists and developers who are responsible for all stages of the research & development cycle including early ideation, design, experimentation, and implementation. You will be expected to work on many levels - from high level vision to implementation. Your design and coding skills will be challenged with writing highly performant components both in big-data experimentation platforms, and production systems.

You will work closely with applied scientists to design experiments, identify the data needed and work to make it available in the compliant experimentation platforms, build the necessary workflows to process the data, run the experiments, and evaluate them.

You will implement successful experiments in the production services which host complex models and algorithms to process critical user data. You will also be involved in developing offline processes to monitor, extract, index and build ML & NLP models, and which use LLMs to improve products.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in frequent hackathons that allow you to work with many different teams around the world. The goal is to pursue high impact work to quickly deliver on critical areas that our users value, by delivering high quality features in a highly collaborative team environment. 

You will also be expected to provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field (OR equivalent work experience) AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • Experience in:

  • search, information retrieval, data mining or NLP related area.

  • LLM application.

  • designing, developing and shipping high quality software products, systems and services.
