Citigroup Director Finance Reporting - Sr. Group Manager in Queens, New York

The Senior Group Manager position is an integral member of the Global Regulatory Reporting Group (GRR). The GRR Group is a high-profile function, providing financial information to the regulators including the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The position will have a high level of visibility within the organization with opportunities to work directly on a regular basis with Management and will also interact very closely with other groups throughout Citi, including Risk, Treasury, Controllers, SEC Reporting, Accounting Policy, Financial Planning & Analysis and Capital Planning. The core responsibilities include managing timely, complete, and accurate filing of quarterly, semi-annual and annual Regulatory Reports required by FRB and OCC for Citigroup and Citibank entities, such as FR Y-9C, Call Report, FR Y-15, Basel reporting and Comprehensive Capital Assessment Review (CCAR). Other responsibilities include certain earnings release, 10-Q/10-K disclosures, preparation/review of Board of Directors and Senior Management Presentations and Analyst Packages, internal controls on Regulatory data integrity, data quality improvement projects as well as implementation of new reporting systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple areas of regulatory filings such as FR Y-9C, Call Report, FR Y-15, Basel reporting, Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and 10Q/10K etc.

  • Lead team and provide review and challenge to production and reporting teams on materials and filings distributed and present to senior management, FRB, OCC, and FDIC quarterly financial results and analysis for regulatory filings including, but not limited to, FR Y-9C, Call Report and FR Y-15.

  • Provide oversight and thought leadership across Regulatory Reporting governance and activities across Citigroup, including compliance with relevant policies and participation at governance forums and committees.

  • Working with the relevant Data Leads and team to maintain and continue to enhance data quality throughout the end-to-end data lifecycle.

  • Working with the relevant Risk & Controls team, maintain and continue to enhance an effective internal control’s structure to satisfy the MCA Risk and Controls requirements.

  • Lead regulatory exams, internal audits and address external analysts’ questions. Maintain effective and professional relationships with regulators, internal and external auditors. Address and develop plans to remediate regulatory/auditor review findings.

  • Review and develop regulatory reporting training with updated regulatory guidance.

  • Partner with various stakeholders including the Controllers Transformation team to ensure implementation of milestones, compensating measures and strategic remediation efforts required to address relevant Consent Order, MRIA and MRAs.

  • Provide oversight and thought leadership across RWA, CET1 Capital and GSIB governance and activities across Citigroup, including compliance with relevant policies and participation at governance forums and committees.

  • Represent Citi with industry banks to lead discussions with US regulators, The Bank Policy Institute (BPI), American Bankers Association (ABA) and Institute of International Finance (IIF) on proposed rulemaking on various regulatory matters.

  • Manage in-depth analysis of variances focusing on various products such as loans, securities, deposits and derivatives, incorporating the understanding of regulatory reporting along with financial analysis in order to communicate results to Senior Management and US Regulatory Agencies.

  • Keep abreast of industry, regulatory, and accounting developments. Apply solid knowledge of Finance/accounting concepts and principles to ensure accurate Regulatory Reporting filings. Review new regulatory reporting requirements and US GAAP accounting pronouncements, to determine the impact on the Regulatory Report filings. Continually monitor developments in the Federal Reserve Reporting Arena and assist the Citi Finance functions in implementing and meeting the reporting requirements.

  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in a concise, succinct manner to all organizational levels.

  • Manage, train, mentor, and evaluate assigned staff.

  • This individual will have an opportunity to manage team members across NY and Tampa, primarily consisting of MBAs and CPAs, who are engaged with and supportive of one another and in an environment which promotes and sustains continuous development and growth. Global Regulatory Reporting Group’s mission is to provide complete and accurate consolidated financial statement analysis and other related information to the regulators, investors, outside analysts and senior management on a timely basis and in the most efficient manner possible.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15-20 years of financial analysis/reporting experience, preferably US Regulatory Reporting experience (e.g., FR Y-9C, FFIEC 031, FR Y-15) related to various products such as loans, securities, deposits and derivatives. Strong familiarity with GAAP/SEC financial reporting.

  • Sound judgment to weigh issues in a balanced manner and make reasonable decisions.

  • Sense of urgency in implementing processes and controls and evaluating priorities; decisive, action-oriented, and practical.

  • Ability to develop effective and productive working relationships with a wide range of groups across Citi as well as external auditors and regulators.

  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented with ability to lead in a professional and challenging environment and deliver results against fast-paced deliverable deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under demanding time frames and respond appropriately and competently to the demands of work challenges when confronted with changes, ambiguity, adversity, and other pressures.

  • Flexibility to work under pressure to meet changing work requirements and strict deadlines.

  • Outstanding presentation, communication, interpersonal and coaching skills. Ability to work with different levels of management.

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
