DIGITAL CONTENT EDITOR

CBS 17, the CBS Affiliate in Raleigh NC, is looking for a Digital Producer and Content Editor to gather and publish news content in a highly competitive market. The position demands a smart, motivated, candidate with keen writing and graphic skills, a commitment to AP style, video editing ability, and a passion for breaking news. The job requires synthesizing information from television scripts, social media, and video into a compelling presentation on the web. Urgency and accuracy are priorities. The candidate must have a passion for social media and a deep understanding of how news is consumed in evolving platforms. CBS 17 is looking for a team player who can juggle multiple assignments. The candidate will also field phone calls and help insert/update entries into the CBS 17 assignment planner. The candidate will be expected to call and confirm information. Other responsibilities will include communicating with field crews and tuning in livestreams. CBS17.com is growing rapidly, and this position will join a motivated web team and a station with a strong commitment to its digital operations. Candidates must be flexible with their schedule. Required skills/knowledge: ENPS, Adobe Photoshop, non-linear editing software, Microsoft Word, and a basic knowledge of HTML. Ability to type quickly. Experience working with WordPress is a plus.   • Tracks stories from all sources including government agencies, wire services and community groups

  • Dispatches photographers, reporters and other personnel to cover stories

  • Coordinates logistics for news personnel

  • Participates in daily story meetings and supplies a comprehensive list of all possible news stories and works with the News Director to develop plans for all broadcasts

  • Assists in development, planning and follow-up of all news stories

  • Edits video clips as assigned

  • Writes stories for the web and other eMedia platforms

  • Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Requirements & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

  • Fluency in English

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Minimum two years’ experience in news operations

  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Flexibility to work any shift
