Aerotek 1st Shift CNC Machinist in Rancho Santa Margarita, California

Description:

First shift (6am-2:30pm) CNC Setup Machinist needed for machine shop in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Pay will be between $35-$55 an hour in pay with OT available as well. Pay is based on experience. Ideally looking for candidates with Okuma Lathe experience (setup and operate).

Will set up and operate CNC machines, such as lathes and mills, to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications, by performing the duties/responsibilities indicated below:

Lathe work

• Okuma with OSP or OEM controls.

• Cincinnati with Fanuc controls and Siemens controls.

• Large manual lathe 42” with experience in heavy faceplate work.

Mill work

• Magnum with Fanuc controls

• Sets up accurately and operates CNC machines.

• Works without assistance from supervision

• Assists employees in job classifications of lesser skill levels.

• Proves out program and tooling in these areas.

• Works from prints, sketches, process sheets, layouts, templates written and verbal instructions.

• Checks CNC programs for errors and edits them in order to improve time and quality of program.

• Makes own programs when necessary.

• Consults programmer to establish sequence of operation and product program readout when required.

• Measures and adjusts machine parts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• 5 to 7 years of experience in a related field and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• High School diploma or equivalent is required

• Ability to set up and run CNC machines in time allocated.

• Knowledge of CNC controls and programming skills.

• Knowledge of tooling, including best grades to use for different materials and jobs, cutting, speeds and feeds, drilling, threading, and machine capabilities.

• Ability to read blueprints, traveler, and measuring micrometer.

• Ability to make set ups strong and safe enough to run at optimum speeds and depths of cut.

• Able to trouble shoot and edit programs to safely increase metal removal rate and decrease in cycle time.

• Ability to use precision measuring instruments to check parts.

• Ability to improve quality by inspecting parts and make sure that part is to print.

• Must be able to gain self-inspection stamp within a six-month period of time by machining a high quality product.

• Must be able to use large wrenches to tighten fixtures.

• Must be able to manipulate large castings in place for machining.

• Must have own tools, such as, hammers, wrenches, pliers, etc.
