SUMMARY

Under the supervision of theGuest Services Manager,the Seasonal Guest Services Attendant is primarily responsible forproviding services to the guests of the park and for activities associated with maintaining a friendly, secure, and informative environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Greet guests and collect entry fees accordingly.
  • Provide information to the public regarding interpretation of park facilities and exhibitions.
  • Monitor activities within the park complex to ensure safety of guests, living and non-living collections, displays, etc.
  • Handle cash and balance a cash drawer along with counting that drawer at start and end of day.
  • Keep shift areas clean and orderly, and clean according to policies regarding living and non-living collections.
  • Support answering the parks main telephone line by referring calls to staff or voice mail, and providing information to the public regarding park programs and events.
  • Inspect park buildings including doors, windows, exhibit areas, kitchen, lighting, interactive displays, floors, restrooms, playgrounds, museum grounds, etc. to assure the building, its contents, and the premises are secure, clean, and functioning as they should.
  • Provide support to park events/meetings and assist with set up/takedown of tables, chairs, etc.
  • Assist with ushering guests and crowd control during animal programs or to support animal care staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with the public in customer service environment preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and competency is desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Professional, outgoing communicator.
  • Able to greet and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and guests, including school-age children, young adults, and teachers.
  • Must be reliable, punctual for shifts, and able to coordinate their personal and professional schedules.
  • Able to multi-task (for example, interact with guests while watching over the store area or exhibit displays to minimize theft or damage).
  • Able to observe, recognize, and take action to correct potentially hazardous situations whether via actions by guests or problems with museum equipment or displays.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • (Regular Full and Part-Time Staff excluding Temporary/Seasonal Staff) must possess a valid California drivers licenseor be able to acquire within ten (10) days. Provide a clean DMV report.
