Microsoft Corporation Business Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Business Program Manager will play a critical role in helping to facilitate our work with government leaders to develop and achieve the company’s political, policy and relationship goals in a way that reflects the goals and values of Microsoft. 

The Business Program Manager will be responsible for supporting the team that manages and advances Microsoft's government relations and public policy initiatives. This role involves overseeing operational and business management tasks to ensure the efficient functioning of the SGA team. The manager works closely with the SGA team, Microsoft personnel, and various internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute strategic campaigns that align with Microsoft's long-term goals.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Management:  Oversee the daily operations of the SGA team, including managing the rhythm of business, task triaging, and team administration. Ensure that operational processes are documented and communicated to team members.

  • Business Planning:  Support the annual planning process for the SGA team, including the development of team and organization-level plans. Facilitate the completion of association engagement plans, consultant plans, and evaluations. Track progress against annual plans and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

  • Event Coordination:  Organize and manage events, including internal reviews, standup meetings, and business reviews. Ensure that events are well-planned and executed, with clear objectives and outcomes. Prepare event plans, briefings, and post-event summaries to document key learnings and achievements

  • Communication and Reporting:  Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other communications to inform and engage internal and external audiences. Provide regular updates on policy developments and their potential impact on Microsoft.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 4+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years management (e.g., people, project, process, vendor, change) experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Minimum 2-years experience working on complex projects with multiple stakeholders with different priorities with proven ability to bring forward a solution to drive impact

  • Experience working in government or with government policymakers

  • Experience managing project and/or team budgets

  • Desire to partner with stakeholders across the company to learn how others work and how the work in USGA supports other teams

  • Skills in organization and communications, together with the ability to partner across disciplines.

  • Self-motivated and able to work in an efficient, informed, and accurate manner.

  • Confidence and ability to quickly identify, analyze and develop creative and smart solutions to difficult problems and challenges.

  • Regularly thinks outside the given parameters to see if there is a more effective way to accomplish the task than what is currently in use.

  • Desire to work independently in a demanding and fast-paced environment without sacrificing high attention to detail.

Business Program Management M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
