As a Principal Technical Project Manager on Microsoft's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation team, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative AI solutions that drive productivity for workers. Our team is dedicated to creating bleeding-edge technologies that leverage cutting-edge AI to optimize work processes and identify areas where efficiency can be improved.

To achieve these goals, our team works closely with partners across Microsoft to identify key areas where AI can have the greatest impact on users. We then leverage our deep expertise in software engineering and AI to develop scalable solutions that are easy to use and highly effective. We are looking for someone who is very hands-on, who can figure out new technologies and can work side-by-side with the innovation team. You will be a partner to contribute the final design (based on the problem to be solved) and communication of the solution to internal and external parties. An ideal candidate should have experience as a Technical Program Manamger in the past and be passionate about AI and solving problems in new ways.

Successful candidates should have the ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies and adopt solutions within the company or from the Open-Source community.

As a Principal Technical Project Manager, you will:

  •  Work as part of a results-oriented, data-driven team that embraces experimentation

  • Ideal candidates are builders. You have been a software engineer or technical product manager in the past and understand what it means to build software. You are pragmatic and can look at complex technical problems and create clarity, focusing on building solutions that are simple and operable.

  • Deliver on ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders, unclear requirements, and incomplete data

  • Evangelizes the feature areas they work on with internal and external stakeholders, partners, analysts, and customers

  • Create documents and presentations to highlight the work of the team to others across Microsoft

  • Create documentation and training materials as needed to help others use the technology

  • Mentor junior team members

  • Live Microsoft’s leadership principles and adopt growth mindset.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering,  technical program management, product management or software engineering. 

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos) – Python is ideal.

  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

  • Demonstrated ability to define and deliver platforms from concept to production

  • Experience partnering with engineering teams to deliver high-impact results.

  • Proficient written and verbal communication/presentation skills at all levels of the organization, technical and non‐technical.

  • Solid project management, leadership, and cross‐group collaboration skills. Proven ability to prioritize, plan, and execute.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
