Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (DCS) team is responsible for the development and implementation of global strategies across our Datacenters (DCs). As a Technical Program Manager focused on Infrastructure Utilization Efficiency (IUE) you will be responsible for the program management of projects and processes aimed at optimizing power management infrastructure across diverse geographical locations and multi-disciplinary teams. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for maximizing efficiency, increasing energy consumption, and ensuring sustainable practices in our cloud infrastructure.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Program Manager to join our dynamic team. The candidate selected will have experience in managing cloud infrastructure programs, ensuring seamless integration of cloud services, and optimizing performance across the organization. As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role in driving the successful strategy development, implementation and ongoing management of our cloud infrastructure initiatives across MSFT.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and refine strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing datacenter resource utilization, capacity planning, and performance optimization.

  • Project Management: Maintain current project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets. Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and seek feedback for mitigation strategies.

  • Stakeholder Management: Sustain relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering teams, datacenter operations, finance, and team leadership. Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and key metrics.

  • Systems Maintenance : Maintain current processes and rhythm of business supporting our established processes within the program to include; supply plan updates, finance reports, runbook updates, and established business forums.

  • Program Management Expertise: Serve as a subject resource to be leveraged around current processes and rhythm of business within our known processes and procedures.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, automate repetitive tasks, and implement best practices for datacenter management and optimization.

  • Quality Assurance: Be the advocate of quality for the products and processes the team delivers and adheres to ensuring the team meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintainaccurate documentation of project plans, process flow documentation, dependent teams, roles and responsibilities, responsible/accountable/consulted/informed constructions, and execution details of projects within a given forecast. Generate regular reports and presentations to communicate project status, outcomes, and lessons learned.

  • Timezone Flexibility: The role requires flexibility to support a global program with changing global priorities based on customer needs or needs of the business.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in computer science, engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or information technology

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in technical program management with a focus on datacenter infrastructure projects

  • Knowledge of datacenter technologies centralized around server hardware, networking protocols, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud computing

  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., VISIO, Microsoft Project, Excel)

  • Professional certifications such as a PMP (Project Management Professional), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), AWS (Amazon Web Services), CCNP (Cisco Certified Netwrok Professional) are preferred

  • Experience defining project scope, schedule, cost, and track progress against milestones

  • Proven track record of successfully supporting cross functional initiatives from concept to delivery

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders across organizational boundaries

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, DMAIC experience (analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions) to optimize datacenter efficiency and performance

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
