Job Description Summary
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Essential Responsibilities:
Independently perform in depth system studies listed below and/or specify scope, review, comment, direct/oversee 3rd party provider(s) for the studies below:
Load Flow / Power Flow, Reactive Capability and Reactive Compensation, Power Factor Study
Dynamic Performance Studies (DPS) and other design studies using both offline and online simulation tools.
Power System Dynamic Simulation
Short circuit analysis
Combined Short Circuit Ratio (CSCR) Evaluation
Transient Switching and Insulation Coordination Study
Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) Analysis
Delayed Current Zero Analysis
Harmonic Distortion Study
Harmonic Stability Study
Overall System Performance Assessment Study
Expertise in system tools like PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, EMTP, ASPEN, ETAP, EMTP, TARA, DigSilent PowerFactory, to perform system studies as detailed above or under desired characteristics section.
Excellent Technical Communication skills to provide guidance, analysis and reports in clear succinct manner to customers, project team and stakeholders.
Provide guidance and coordinate the engineering tasks to meet the project/tender requirement.
Technical responsibility in areas of expertise
Be innovative, develop and industrialize solutions tools and processes associated with system studies
Be actively involved in new developments in HVDC technologies, implementing control and protection solutions and creating / delivering new analysis techniques and system study tools to provide optimized system study solutions.
Process Improvement: Review and record design processes and develop new or improved processes.
Enforce engineering discipline and set processes across all work tasks and adherence to company policies, quality procedures and work instructions (e.g., through trainings, technical reviews).
Represent the business in external events by publishing technical papers.
Apply yourself towards improving your technical knowledge base and keep abreast of relevant methodologies and technological advancement within the Company.
Support and mentor other engineers to increase the team’s technical knowledge and competence.
Report or resolve any non-conformances in a timely manner.
Actively participate in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 5 years’ experience of network or transient studies for HVDC/FACTS/Renewable Energy/Inverter based Power Systems in offshore wind, industrial, utility substations oe grid interconnects.
Minimum 5 years working knowledge of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) compliance requirements and/or ISOs' interconnection or transmission planning guidelines. Familiarity with NERC standards such as TPL, MOD, and PRC
Minimum 5 years familiarity with ISOs such us PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, ISO-NE, NYISO
Able and willing to travel 20% including international and comply with GE travel guidelines.
Desired Characteristics:
Master’s degree in electrical engineering including power systems and power electronics subjects with proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering and preferably in HVDC System Studies.
Knowledge of system tools such as SIMULINK MATLAB, DSAT
Knowledge of RAM Studies

Protection studies ... relay coordination, unit protection, real Time Digital Simulation (RTDS) for protection
Cable selection and Sizing
Network studies: Confirmation of the correct interaction between the equipment, its control system, and the rest of the network.
Expertise in the use of computer mathematical and simulation tools as applied to the design of the activities.
Professional Engineering license and willing to review and seal your work and the work of others under your supervision.
Strong knowledge on contract and project management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), or Engineering equipment package (EEP) project execution.
Strong understanding of civil engineering and substation related structural design requirements.
Working knowledge of applicable design calculations for primary & secondary equipment such as battery sizing & DC system component selection, power transformer and circuit breaker selection, circuit protection, control and power cable selection and rating, bus, fittings, insulator, and arrector selection, ground grid design, and lightning protection
Field-testing and commissioning experience with safe work habits.
Knowledge of IEC and CIGRE guidelines is a plus
Excellent personal computer skills, including programming and design automation, and familiarity with AutoCAD strongly desired.

The salary range for this position is 98,400.00 - 131,200.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Qualifications requises:
Baccalauréat en génie électrique
Au moins 5 ans d'expérience dans les études de réseaux ou de transitoires pour les systèmes électriques basés sur HVDC/FACTS/énergies renouvelables/onduleurs dans les sous-stations éoliennes, industrielles et de services publics offshore ou les interconnexions de réseau.
Au moins 5 années de connaissance pratique des exigences de conformité de la North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) et de la Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) et/ou des directives de planification d'interconnexion ou de transport de l'ISO. Familiarité avec les normes NERC telles que TPL, MOD et PRC
