Job Description Summary

Staff Build & Release Engineer will be responsible for providing build and release support and strategy for highly complex as well as parallel and concurrent releases for a Software Product. Manages Continuous Code Integration within SDLC. Works independently and is seen as a Technical Leader. The role demonstrates deep understanding of concurrent software development, its effect on build management and releasing the builds across versions and environments.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Own and support the process for builds, releases and continuous integration for large and complex releases of a product and at times expands the scope across multiple concurrent releases.

  • Own, manage, and improve release process. Focuses on scale and efficiency. Assists in deployment of the right builds across environments.

  • Respond to requests and/or incidents from automated systems as well as other teams/departments

  • Manage assigned key deliverables

  • Contribute in driving initiatives such as defining standards and processes to ensure quality.

  • Work cross functionally with other teams and business departments to align activities and deliverables.

  • Support, develop, and enhance the infrastructure and continuous integration framework used across teams.

  • Determine and follow best practices and principles and promotes them across the team.

  • Learn new build and releases techniques and methodologies and cross-trains the team in the same

  • Work with developers and stakeholders to deliver quality software and solutions through the build and deployment system.

  • Partner with and provides direction to fellow team members to investigate and diagnose issues/bugs, and formulate solutions.

  • Use industry best practices to improve Build, Release and Continuous integration processes.

  • Contributes in driving initiatives such as defining standards and processes to ensure quality

  • Expert in troubleshooting and/or authoring code for other team members to understand and utilize

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in with advanced experience.

  • Minimum 6 years experience

Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in developing and executing automated builds and scripts. (powershell, groovy, ansible, gitlab preferred)

  • Experience with cloud solutions and concepts (AWS, Azure)

  • Experience with Systems administration on commonly-used Operating Systems (Windows Server, Linux/Unix)

  • Experience with containerization solutions (Docker, Kubernetes)

Business Acumen

  • Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments

  • Experience in operating and/or building scalable and highly available distributed systems

  • Skilled in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks

  • Can articulate how our technology solves customer problems from a technology and business perspective
