GE Vernova Field Services Manager - PT in Remote, Singapore

Job Description Summary

All resources, and logistics required to perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property. These activities contribute to, maintain, Purpose of the Job:

  • Receive and create new jobs and employee assignments in company databases

  • Immigration/visa management (if required and with assistance of CEAP admin.)

  • Manage and coordinate resources to ensure that Site Supervisors, Site Managers and Site Technicians are able to execute their project work on time and in budget.

  • Manage existing field tools and drive effort for innovative tooling globally ensuring cutting edge technologies and fresh ideas are identified, analyzed and operationalized for the field services we perform.

  • Manage spare parts stock in warehousing when applicable

  • Provide assistance/support to Sales and Tendering team (costs and planning validation, attend Customer’s presentation when relevant)

The Field Manager will organize the mobilization and demobilization of field employees and will update the company databases as appropriate on a daily basis ensuring accurate employee and job status and financial information. The Field Manager serves as a liaison to the OTR leader, HR department and Finance

Responsibilities

1. Assessment of labour & equipment and create new jobs and employee assignments:

  • Container – contents to be discussed with supervisor

  • Confirm date of departure/ arrival of container

  • Confirm inductions arranged for contractors in line with GE policies and procedures

  • Plan accommodation/ travels (Supervisor accountable for all staff accommodation from start to finish)

  • Hours and materials: time sheets and budget management.

  • Update and maintain company databases with employee, job and financial information

  • Interact with field employees to provide information about job assignments

  • Ensure travel costs support Business Unit’s Cost Management objectives (flights, accommodation, vehicle hire)

  • Generate and manage multiple reports for business partners as needed

  • Assist with development and testing of system modifications within GSI systems and databases

  • Coordinate mobilization and demobilization of field employees to ensure timely arrival to and from job sites

  • Update employee status in the company database on a daily basis

  • Initiate requests and follow up on information in the GE Travel Advisory System (TAS)

  • Update and maintain accuracy of pay, cost, and bill rates and site information,

  • Understand and follow Master Service Agreements for job set ups for the business supported

  • Validate site financial information in GE financial systems (SAP and Payroll)

  • Prepare and plan Outage events in coordination with the Project Manager

  • Assist management team with employee payroll or credit card issues

  • Support training on the job events

2. Reporting and documentation

  • Estimate hours for sales tenders and report on actual hours and deviation from plan

  • Manage the various recording systems e.g. bar coding to jobs

  • Report on progress of site crew work (daily site log)

  • Document minutes of tool box meetings

  • Assist in developing work instructions/ procedures for the works to be performed (works statement,ITP, safety plan, site management plan, JSA, etc.) using existing available templates in the QMS system.

  • Ensure data and documentation are complete and up to date

3. Site Team Communications

  • Conduct daily contact with site supervisors to check progress of work

  • Document any issues raised by site supervisors and provide guidance on handling any issues

  • Prior to completion arrange a meeting with site supervisor to visit site

4. Resources Planning

  • Ensure that planned resources for the project are available as per the plan

  • Develop contingency plans in the instance that resources are not available

  • Prepare Purchase orders for Labour Hire when needed

  • Inductions and training

5. People Management

  • Supervise and manage the team to ensure performance standards, policies and procedures are met

  • Assess competency to delegate the appropriate duties and responsibilities

  • Regularly manage and review performance of employees

  • Initiate verbal disciplinary action where needed and involve management in formal warning stages

  • Identify training needs and conduct training to close skill gaps where required

  • With support of experts in the Region, organise appropriate training with external training providers

  • Conduct regular tool box meetings with shift crew

  • Ensure employees possess and maintain appropriate licenses/ training where required

  • Identify talent, coach/ mentor for development

  • Supervise and set-up appropriate KPIs and control procedure to drive contractor/contingent workforce to drive behaviour and performance on site.

6. Immigration/visa management (if required and with assistance of CEAP admin.)

  • Monitor and manage outbound travel via GE tools

  • Initiate cases with outside counsel to procure visas / work permits

  • Communicate with various government agencies for certification of documents

  • Fulfil request for Letter of Invitation (as needed)

  • Provide guidance to employees and Field Business Ops teams regarding documents, cost and time requirements for visa / work permit Applications

  • Ensure all paperwork including applications for immigration visas / work permits are completed accurately and in a timely manner

  • Track visa and work permits progress to keep business partners updated

  • Maintain immigration tools and files for all employees on foreign assignments

  • Process and complete any exit permit or formalities prior to employees leaving the home country for assignment, if applicable

7. Environment

  • Adhere to all environmental procedures in accordance with instructions.

  • Ensure all appropriate actions are taken to implement the Environmental policies, procedures and legislative requirements to maintain Company Environmental certification

8. Health and Safety

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety through participation in formal and informal discussions, regular team visits and accident/ incident investigations

  • Conduct risk assessments on hazards identified

  • Adhere to all safe working procedures and ensure employees are complying withsafe work instructions and policies

  • Ensure all appropriate actions are taken to implement Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures, programs and legislative requirements on the designated shift

  • Ensure housekeeping is maintained to required 5S standard

  • Ensure safety work instructions are completed for work area

  • Participate in the resolution of safety issues and ERMS

  • Participate in conducting risk assessments on new processes/ machinery

  • Ensure MSDS are maintained in work area

  • Ensure consultation with employee health and safety representatives, particularly on any workplace changes which have health and safety implications.

  • Initiate actions to improve health and safety.

  • Fatigue management: make sure compliance to GE policy is met especially during peak time and/or works overlapping.

9. Quality

  • Report CAR and process in a timely manner

  • Inspect work of employees to ensure it meets quality standards

  • Implement and ensure employees work to quality procedures and standards to maintain Company Quality Accreditation

10. Sales and Tendering

  • Provide estimate to Tendering team (nbr. of man-hours to perform a work)

  • Validate planning (sequence of works and duration of each task)

  • Attend meetings with Customers during tendering stage and provide support during negotiation stage

  • Share return of Experiences from previous works using the knowledge data base tool.

  • Report opportunities detected from the site to the Sales Team.

Educational Requirements

  • Any Engineering degree , preferred Electrical

  • Certificate in Frontline Management

  • Certificate in Project Management

  • 5 years’ experience in supervising work teams

  • Business understanding (market knowledge in area of work, intl. exposure & awareness)

  • General knowledge of Transmission and Distribution

  • Knowledge of Transformer and/or AIS equipment manufacturing process

  • Testing and wiring

  • Electrical regulations

  • Costing/ Estimation

Desired Knowledge / Experience

  • 3 years in a similar position in the T&D Industry or related indus
