Eaton Corporation Sr NPI Buyer in Reynosa, Mexico

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Sr NPI Buyer.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Manages the tactical commercial aspects of a specific supplier deck. In this role, the Sr. Buyer works closely with the Strategic Sr. Buyers with the assigned suppliers to negotiate agreements as required, improving supplier quality, participating in supplier selection and development activities, and establishing purchase contracts governing assigned suppliers. Emphasis is on selection and management of vendors to provide Eaton with the highest levels of quality at the lowest landed cost while insuring adequate capacity, on-time delivery, and commitment to continuous improvement. The scope includes supporting current products as well as new product development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Participates in development of commodity strategy for required commodities. This includes participation in supplier classifications based upon standard rating process, development of five year strategic road maps to successfully execute the strategy (including capital required, cost out, inflation, currency and risk).

B. Evaluates social, economic, and governmental information to determine the risks and opportunities regarding global sourcing (i.e., tariffs, dumping duties, exchange rates, etc.).

C. Decides/participates in supplier selection for material/component requirements. Work with all other Departments to assure Eaton’s customer approval on a timely basis.

D. Completes negotiations with suppliers regarding price, terms, quality, tooling, etc. Develop and negotiate supply agreements when needed. Negotiate consignment and/or Kanban set up with supply base to assist with inventory days on hand.

E. Participates in the activities (i.e., PPAP, supplier approval process, specification/print development when necessary, trials, etc.) during supplier start-up. Coordinate cost estimating and design parameters for new projects and products.

F. Coordinates the exchange of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards for confidentiality.

What you’ll do:

G. Negotiates resolution (as required) of Eaton claims (i.e., cost, time, rework, scrap, and labor, sorting charges) with suppliers regarding non-conforming material.

H. Participates in teams working towards continuous process improvements, elimination of waste, simultaneous engineering, and advanced product quality planning.

I. Supports the corporate sponsored IDEAS program and its associated activities and tools.

J. Develops productive relationships with others in Supply Chain Management, mentoring, teaching and training.

K. Complies with Eaton standardize SCM process and policies both locally and at the corporate level.

L. Locates and develops new suppliers to improve the capability of Eaton’s supply base.

M. Identify and execute cost reduction projects in accordance with the annual individual Apex target.

N. Identify and execute inventory reduction projects to maintain inventory levels at the established targets.

O. Maintain invoices on hold below 10 at any giving time.

P. Maintain system parameters updated at all times.

Q. Ensures material availability at all times to prevent production disruptions and achieve absorption hours.

R. Supports the NPI program by:

a. Coordinating incoming of new components/material working in alignment with the Advance NPI Buyer considering quantity and timing; also make the pilot runs planning based on material availability and customer requested orders for samples in coordination with Program Manager and Plant APQP/NPI Project Engineer.

b. Becoming involved in NPI projects since prototype phase to engage on new components, new suppliers towards supporting the material arrivals to the plant for prototype pilot builds.

c. Managing material procurement according to BOM and inventory for Pre-Production Pilot Runs (C-Samples for Gama Phase) like PV, Run&Rate and other pilot runs as per customer requirements. This requires close alignment and coordination with NPI Advance Buyer and Program Manager.

d. Being responsible for asking for PPAPs to suppliers and follow-up until they submit acceptable PPAP packages working closely with NPI Advance buyer and Plant Supplier Quality Engineer.

e. Supporting related APQP and PROLaunch related activities and/or deliverables.

f. Getting customer demand forecast and defining a production ramp up plan for production while minimizing the risk of generating obsolete raw materials.

S. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or specialized degree in purchasing/logistics. MBA Preferred.

• 3-5 years of experience in supply chain management

• Strong Communication and Presentation Skills

• Understanding of key financial metrics

• Knowledge and skills in MRP, MRPII, JIT, Lean Mfg., Kan Ban, Vendor Managed Inventory

• Knowledge and experience with SAP and Oracle.

• Strong analytical/problem solving skills

• Contract Negotiating Skills

• Blueprint reading skills

• Knowledge of plastics injection molding industry

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
