Bon Secours Mercy Health Engineer in Richmond, Virginia

The hours will be 3:30 pm to 12:00 am with a 10 days on and 4 days off rotation. This allows for every other weekend off. Weekends and holiday shifts required as needed.

PRIMARY FUNCTION / GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

I. Monitors, operates repairs and maintains all mechanical, hydraulic, hydronic, vacuum, pneumatic and electrical physical plant equipment as well as troubleshoot and performing corrective measures as necessary. Maintains detailed documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements.

II. EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Knowledge acquired through a high school education, plus two years or more

years technical training or equivalent.

  1. Requires a minimum of {3} years working experience in the field.

  2. Demonstrates skills and ability to operate a variety of plant equipment, hand and power tools in a safe manner.

  3. A well rounded knowledge of mechanical / electrical equipment operation and repair.

  4. Must possess a current Virginia drivers license.

  5. Ability to work varied shifts and schedules to accommodate hospital needs.

7 Ability to work alone and assume full onsite building responsibilities.

  1. Knowledge of direct digital and building energy management control systems.

III. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment; completes required documentation on schedule.

  2. Operates and adjusts building automation and digital control systems.

  3. Calibrates equipment and controls to assure proper operations.

  4. Cleans A.C. coils changes filters, vents ducts, and drain pans.

  5. Lubricates, oils and cleans bearings, motors pumps and air compressors.

  6. Adjust room temperatures/VAV reheat systems as needed.

  7. Responds to hospital emergencies in accordance with Hospital/Engineering Department procedures such as fire alarms, Utility Emergency Outages/Inclement weather and maintains effective training for Emergency Preparedness as directed by hospital safety committee.

  8. Passes on information on situations, and repairs needed to equipment to fellow workers and supervisor.

  9. Follows Engineering call-in procedures when major problems occur with facility equipment including notifying supervisor.

  10. Performs plumbing repairs including clogged drains. sinks, and toilets

  11. Makes daily rounds inspecting mechanical areas and records information on log sheets.

  12. Documents daily activities and equipment service history in engineering log book.

IV. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs other job duties as assigned

  2. Adjust working hours as needed for shift coverage.

V. WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Works in all areas of the hospital where there is risk to potential exposure to

to electrical and mechanical equipment ,chemicals, hazardous waist and refrigerants. May be required to work outside in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to climb ladders bend, stoop, push and pull. To walk, or stand for eighty percent of work time; lifting and carrying weights of forty pounds up to twenty percent of the time. The individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in the position are required to exercise universal precautions, and use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
