Amentum Industrial Janitor/Floor Technician 3rd Shift in Richmond, Virginia

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Janitor in Richmond, VA to provide the cleaning and upkeep of an assigned area for an industrial facility, with a focus on floor cleaning work.

This is a full-time position. 3rd Shift Sunday-Thursday 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM (shift may vary based on business demand.)

Hiring hourly range: $17-$20/hour (hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).

Daily Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleans and maintains buildings/facilities.

  • Performs sweeping, mopping, stripping, sealing, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, and upholstery care.

  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with the client, co-workers, supervisor, managers, etc.

  • Complies with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, client, and regulatory authorities.

  • Remains flexible and prepared to complete all tasks that are assigned.

  • Removes stains and follows chemical cleaner/power equipment procedures and specifications to prevent damage to floors, walls, and fixtures.

In addition to floor cleaning work, this position will also perform the following:

  • Dusts and cleans furniture, fixtures, walls, blinds and select equipment; cleans ceilings/vents and dusts light fixtures.

  • Pulls trash/recycling and replaces plastic bag liners in containers.

  • Wipes and cleans tabletops, chairs, refrigerators, microwaves, etc.

  • Services and cleans restrooms; restocks restrooms with supplies.

  • Cleans partition glass, windows, and mirrors.

  • Keeps janitor’s closets neat and orderly and maintains equipment in good working order.

  • Notifies manager/supervisor concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.

  • Drives vehicles (if required) to perform work or travel to other facilities to clean, which may include vans, industrial trucks, golf carts, and industrial vacuum cleaners.

  • Provides special cleaning and support during client events, as needed.

  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • 1 year of relevant experience in industrial or commercial cleaning.

  • HISTORY OF PROVEN EXPERIENCE with floor care equipment such as scrubbers, strippers, buffers, extractors, and similar.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility/security credentials/authorization. Note: US citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • May require a valid driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. (https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/)

Some Physical/Special requirements include:

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach and wrist movement.

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.

  • Regularly lift to 30 lbs.

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions.

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to color coded cleaning microfiber clothes and mops.

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.
