Compensation Data

The HEOR Strategy lead is a leading and experienced technical expert with regards to Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), as well as Real World Evidence (RWE). Based on their deep technical and analytical expertise and profound market access and customer experience, the position holder leads the development and implementation of market access strategies and deliverables for the products/portfolio(s) in a TA. The incumbent owns key competences and supports the TA Market Access Head by giving oversight, direction and functional guidance on HEOR projects in the TA.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops HEOR-related market access objectives for relevant brands/portfolio aligned with the TA goals and priorities and contributes to functional and TA strategy and longer-term HEOR/RWE capabilities development.

  • Leads the development of product/brand specific HEOR and market access strategies.

  • Represents Market Access as a member of the core team(s) and partner cross functionally to reflect payer and organized customer needs in the brand strategies maximizing the brand(s).

  • Leads the HEOR and RWE value generation and value demonstration activities and deliverables for Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) products to demonstrate their payer-relevant clinical, economic, and social value.

  • Guides strategy implementation in key markets, in-line with the overall corporate TA strategy and goals achieving, broadening, and defending optimal market access.

  • Brand Team Representative (BTR) responsibility globally.

  • Provides leadership to the cross-country market access sub-teams.

  • Leads global HEOR and market access initiatives tailored to customer archetypes to develop innovative approaches and solutions to bring value to BI`s customers and to drive the TA strategy.

  • Foresees markets and customer trends and proactively suggest solutions.

  • Displays leadership in making sure the development programs of pipeline products maximize the value to payers and organized customers from HEOR perspective and the needs of (R)OPUs are reflected allowing for optimized access and success for the products.

  • Provides guidance, teaching and oversight to less experienced HEOR managers based on deep HEOR/RWE technical and analytical expertise, as well as profound market access and customer experience.

Requirements

At least 10 years of pharma industry experience, with positions in areas of relevance for HEOR, consulting or payer authorities (essential)

At least 5 years of direct experience undertaking Health Technology Assessments (HTA) including Economic Evaluations for health interventions and pharmaceutical products

At least 5 years conducting such strategic work in a pharmaceutical company at a global level (essential).

  • Graduate degree in health economics, public health, pharmacy, medicine, or business administration.

  • Postgraduate degree in Health Economics or Public Health.

  • Major / focus: Health Technology Assessment, Health Economics, Pharmacy, Medicine, Public Health.

  • Proven track record of delivering value demonstration materials that resulted in timely market access and adoption, ideally across multiple therapeutic areas.

  • Proven ability in appraising clinical evidence (both RCTs and operational evidence) using modern EBM criteria.

  • Profound knowledge and expertise to formulating COA strategies including validation methods, administration of measures and statistical analyses of COA data.

  • Expert in methods for collecting and analyzing data to gain insights of stakeholder preferences (MCDA, Discrete choice experiments, best worst scaling).

  • Specialist knowledge in health economic modelling of health care interventions, in methods for evidence generation using observational study methodologies, and in evidence synthesis methods (meta-analysis, network meta-analysis).

  • Proven ability to publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Customer orientation and successful track record in customer interactions.

  • Possesses relevant and updated knowledge of global evidence needs of payers, HTA organizations and organized customer groups.

  • Solid understanding of drug- and clinical and non-clinical development processes as well as economic flows within key healthcare systems.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skill both in internal and external context (essential).

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and to build solid internal and relevant external networks.

  • Ability and interest to guide and teach less experienced HEOR managers.

  • Language skills & proficiency: English fluent (reading, writing, speaking), other languages a plus.

  • Innovative mindset / unconventional thinking; willingness to succeed, outcome/result orientation.
