Description

The Department of Oncology Translational Sciences is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Scientist II/III to join our Ridgefield, CT research team. The successful candidate will utilize cutting-edge molecular and cellular biology methods to identify novel biomarkers for patient selection, target engagement and pharmacodynamics that strengthen and advance research projects in the Oncology portfolio. The Scientist II/III will contribute to the discovery of biomarkers and to the characterization of the mode of action of immuno-oncology therapies using their technical scientific expertise.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, plan and execute experiments in an independent manner leveraging scientific and technical expertise to achieve defined objectives. Independently initiates and carries out the process for assay development, optimization and validation in a timely manner as required.

  • Utilize multi-color flow cytometry and mass cytometry (CyTOF) techniques to develop novel assays for target engagement and/or pharmacodynamics biomarkers, working with lab supervisor to identify and optimize new and innovative assays associated with cytometry based biomarker discovery.

  • Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, including ordering of laboratory consumables to ensure continuous supplies.

  • Work well in a highly matrixed environment and support multiple projects at the same time.

  • Work independently with the capability to troubleshoot experimental procedures and provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel.

  • Prepare technical reports, publications and oral presentations.

Requirements

Scientist II Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field.

  • Cell culture experience with both cell lines and primary immune cells (necessary).

  • Practical experience with multi-color/ multi-parametric cytometry based approaches, including cell preparation, staining and acquisition (highly desirable).

  • Practical experience with general molecular biology techniques such as qPCR and Western Blot from tissues and cells is a plus.

  • Proficiency with computers and familiarity with data analysis software (GraphPad, FlowJo, etc) is a plus.

Scientist III Requirements:

  • Master´s Degree in Biology or related field from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor´s Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field

  • Extensive cell culture experience with both cell lines and primary immune cells (necessary).

  • Practical experience and knowledge with multi-color/ multi-parametric cytometry based approaches, including cell preparation, staining and acquisition (necessary).

  • Practical experience with general molecular biology techniques (ex. qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, Western Blot, etc) from tissues and cells is a plus.

  • Ability to perform Immunobiology assays, such as Luminex, ELISA, MSD, ELISpot, etc is a plus.

  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills (necessary).

  • Able to perform routine lab work without supervision, and design and execute non-routine experiments on a basis of literature analyses (necessary).

  • Ability to report technical data concisely and accurately, and capable of overall data interpretation.

  • Proficiency with computers and familiarity with data analysis software (GraphPad, FlowJo, etc) is a plus.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
