We are now recruiting for a Commissioning Manager to join us permanently on our major projects.

Job Summary:

The Commissioning Manager (UK) will typically manage the Commissioning on small to medium size projects or Areas on a complex multi discipline project.

You will be accountable for the overall organisation, direction, supervision, and performance of all Commissioning activities.

You’ll manage the delivery teams and relevant areas of the supply chain, to drive the safe, timely completions of projects within budget and specification.

As Commissioning Manager you will manage the delivery of the overall Commissioning test plan that confirms design intent against functional acceptance criteria to the client.

You will ensure that Commissioning, Operability & Maintainability requirements are embedded into the design.

Your knowledge will provide, leadership, management, and support required to ensure commissioning work is executed to meet Amentums, legal, regulatory, project and Client requirements.

As the experienced in Commissioning Manager your experience will help delivery methods and tools and understand how projects are structured and delivered within a programmatical context.

You’ll be able to utilise project tools to inform effective and timely decision making to pre-empt risk, implement effective mitigation and seek out opportunities.

The role also requires both team development and SQEP assurance responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

Developing and then delivering the commissioning work scope to an approved strategy and execution plan; efficiently, cost effectively and safely.

To ensure risks are identified early, and to manage and mitigate as appropriate. This includes regular monitoring of risks and escalating where appropriate.

To apply a proactive and balanced approach to safety (Nuclear, radiological, chemo-toxic conventional & environmental) ensuring that safety is not compromised during commissioning.

Accurate reporting on commissioning progress and performance and where required taking appropriate corrective actions.

To plan, prioritise and deploy commissioning resources to support successful delivery.

To provide demonstrable evidence that all Pre-commissioning activities are adding value to successful project delivery.

Research, evaluate and deploy where appropriate innovative techniques to support successful delivery.

Manage day to day liaison with personnel to obtain any necessary permissions and minimise impact to the project.

Ensure input into other project processes are carried out at the appropriate time e.g., design, HAZOP, risk, contract & estimating, knowledge continuity etc.

Accountable:

For the accurate inclusion of the full commissioning work scope within the Project schedule.

Leading and coaching their team to maximise their efficiency and effectiveness to deliver in a cost effective and safe manner, whilst meeting the schedule and quality requirements.

Ensuring that all Commissioning work is controlled in line with the Amentum’s, Processes and Procedures and where appropriate the Clients procedures.

To ensure that all testing and commissioning clearly demonstrates that the new or modified systems meet the safety and design performance requirements.

Ensuring that based practices and where appropriate innovative techniques have been applied in completing the commissioning scope.

Assessing, authorising and maintaining the competence of the Amentum and supply chain commissioning teams.

Accurate recording and dissemination of “Learning from Experience”.

Experience

High level qualification in a relevant subject.

Experience in a commissioning or engineering managerial position working in a highly regulated environment e.g. Nuclear, Energy, Petrochem sectors.

Experience in managing a multi-discipline delivery team including management of supply chain organisations.

Education

Ideally hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject or demonstrated equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.

Professional membership of a relevant chartered body.

Due to the nature of our business we need all candidates to ideally be Security Cleared (SC) or have no issue in obtaining SC. A prerequisite for SC is that the applicant has lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years.
