POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is based in Roanoke, VA, and reports to the Supervisor International Transportation. The Sr. International Transportation Coordinator works collaboratively, cross functionally, internally and externally to achieve efficiencies and effectiveness for the Transportation Area. This individual will analyze data, and develop reporting to measure KPIs. The individual will be the subject matter expert for transportation data, measuring carrier performance, defining and presenting cost to serve by customer. The individual must be able to extract, utilize and update data that impacts transportation, receiving or shipping teams. They will be the primary liaison with leadership for International Transportation reporting. This individual will have heavy daily operations oversight to ensure timely movement of goods. This position will help implement projects and initiatives identified by upper management.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Ability to work in ERP system to locate, enter, adjust or provide follow up on shipments.

  • Implement savings initiatives or other projects identified that will contribute to a more efficient or effective Transportation Team.

  • Work with Carriers and Ports to avoid delays and ensure timely deliveries around the world.

  • Ability to learn new systems like PO Management or TMS quickly.

  • Utilize various systems to produce required paperwork for shipments across Ocean or Air.

  • Understand and manipulate data for varying requests, reports, and interfaces.

  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements.

  • Proactive communication to all internal key interfaces and customers, and external carriers and customers.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of Distribution, Transportation or 3PL experience is required, preferably in a multi-divisional consumer goods public company

  • Work with a top tier Transportation Management System preferred

  • Experience with manufacturing or transportation companies a plus

  • Strong work ethic and ability to be in the office 5 days a week

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Essential

· Intermediate to Advanced experience level with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) required

· Experience with Python or other programming languages a plus

  • General understanding of multi-modal transportation a plus

· Experience in Routing Transportation with Ocean knowledge a plus

· Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast pace environment

· Must work with a sense of urgency to resolve issues

· Strong conflict resolution, relationship management, communication skills, and attention to detail

· Takes initiative to understand and improve processes, challenges prevailing assumptions and the status quo

· Works collaboratively internally and externally and with minimal supervision and a high level of professionalism

· Knowledge of International shipping lanes and practices

· All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

  • High School minimum requirement with preference for an associate or bachelor degree
