Responsibilities

The Clinical Anatomy Department is seeking a postdoctoral fellow. The Clinical Anatomy Fellow will work collaboratively under mentorship of faculty in the Department of Clinical Anatomy and with MCCOM faculty/instructors across the enterprise including all Mayo Clinic sites as required/needed. The selected individual will be responsible for the following:

  • Teaching and assessment of clinical anatomy to learners across MCCOMS

  • Participation in anatomy related CPD courses

  • Performance of cadaveric dissection for educational and research purposes

  • Participation in translational research projects as required by DCA for enhancing patientcare.

  • Participation and skill enhancement in use of augmented reality, virtual reality and 3Dprinting through the Experiential Learning Platform.

  • Manuscript preparation, writing, statistical analyses, submission and revision suitable for publication in clinically based anatomy and medical education

  • Any other activities as required by DCA in line with annual strategic objectives.

The Department of Clinical Anatomy, Clinical Anatomy Fellowship program is focused on training for the following competencies:

  • Effective teaching and assessment skills in clinical anatomy

  • Effective application of dissection to improve and advance clinically relevant anatomical knowledge

  • Ability to engage in translational research for enhancing patient care.

  • Competency in use of augmented reality, virtual reality and 3D printing

  • Skills in manuscript writing, statistical analyses, manuscript submission and revision suitable for publication in clinically based anatomy and medical education.

Mentorship in course development, team-based instruction, curriculum integration, and student evaluation/assessment will be provided. Focus on patient-centered pedagogy, educational outcomes evaluation is a core requirement. A minimum of 3 manuscripts submitted for peer reviewed publications is required for successful completion of the fellowship.

A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
