Responsibilities

Must service, maintain, repair, troubleshoot the following equipment: walk-in freezers and walk-in coolers, blast chillers, centrifuges, cryostars, lyophilizers, heat pumps, water baths, domestic freezers and refrigerators, commercial style freezers & refrigerators, liebert units and various incremental ints, i.e. drinking fountains, ice machines, kidney/slush machines. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance inspections on refrigeration components which make up the system. Must be able to identify potential mechanical or electrical component failures and make recommendations for corrective action. Must be able to reclaim and recover all refrigeration equipment and documented refrigerant amounts according to CFC Regulations per State and Local codes. Requires EPA Refrigeration Technician Certificate. Performs installation of equipment as outlined by engineer, using blueprints, sketches, specifications and manufacturers recommendations. Utilizes the computerized database system to document daily work activities which includes preventative maintenance, corrective, repair or project work orders.

Requires working experience with soldering, braising and welding of all types of refrigeration system tubings, such as brass, copper and aluminum alloys. Must communicate need for welding permit to working leader or supervisor. Ability to use charging scales, multi-meters, micron gauges, recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, and all related refrigerated technical equipment. Must have strong customer service skills in dealing with hospital and research type environments associated with patient care. Need to provide continual communication with customer and working leader regarding service call or job related status. Must be able to work long irregular hours as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma and 4-6 years of refrigeration experience. Prefer 2-4 years of college experience in field of engineering, heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Prefer member of the Refrigeration Service and Equipment Society (RSES). Requires the ability to speak and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication. Requires compliance of OSHA guidelines in the use Personel Protective Equipment and their application. Will be test fitted for Respiratory Personal Protection Device.
