Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering and technical support of existing classroom and meeting room presentation equipment, including the design, specification, installation, operation and maintenance of all classroom technologies for both digital and analog formats. Responds to help calls that are beyond the capabilities of the first responder.

  • Evaluate the equipment needed to support institute events requesting audio and video support. Operation of this equipment is sometimes an individual effort but can become a team event depending on the complexity of the event that is being supported.

  • Provide videotape/video file captioning, computer editing and processing of all captioning requests submitted for NTID and RIT.

  • Set up, calibrate and adjust video /audio equipment used in the duplication, recording, and archiving of video/audio media. This includes system design, equipment specification, installation, operation, and maintenance of duplication equipment.

  • Supervise and provide training on the operation of production equipment to co-ops/ students.

  • Collaborate with other on campus departments as well as outside agencies on projects related to the development of instructional space for NTID.

  • Research the specifications for new equipment, order supplies and items needed in the repair, installation of new systems and general maintenance of classroom systems.

  • Provide In-Service training of clients needing special assistance with the operation of presentation equipment.

  • Assist in the set-up and adjustments to successfully stream events over campus network systems.

  • Provide support for remote Conferences on behalf of NTID. NTID sends these “Deaf-centered” organizations the equipment and support staff to assure access for attendees. Equipment includes audio, video, computer, distribution, display and projection, streaming, and power distribution Includes setup and calibration of all equipment prior to event as well as its operation and monitoring during production. Provide preventive maintenance of equipment between productions. Work directly with clients to integrate any additional equipment needed into the system.

Required Qualifications:

3 years professional media technology/audio/visual experience. Project management experience with a strong emphasis on customer service/satisfaction required. General knowledge of computer applications and operating systems, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Problem-solving skills, troubleshooting skills, training skills, presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to modify existing equipment and technologies to meet NTID’s specific and unique requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and sign language skills

  • Proficiency American Sign Language communication and knowledge of deaf culture strongly preferred.
