University of Rochester Pest Management Rep III in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, inspects all University facilities for evidence of pests (animals, birds, insects and the like) and applies pesticides and traps as directed utilizing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies and in accordance with policies and state and federal regulations. Independently selects control measures. Works with University Facilities to implement repairs and improvements.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Inspects all University premises for signs of infestation and evidence of harborage. Selects and applies appropriate devices or pesticides for control of structural pests. Submits work orders to Facilities for necessary structural repairs and improvements to eliminate pest access and harborage.

  • Maintains detailed daily logs of work performed including location serviced, time spent and pesticides used as required by NYS DEC. Routinely and frequently reports findings and activities to Sanitarian; drafts periodic reports for Sanitarian to distribute. Provides regular services to high risk areas and follows up with written reports where required.

  • Assists in developing preventive maintenance program for pest control. Oversees, makes recommendations and may assist in rodent-proofing of problem areas. Investigates complaints and devises solutions in consultation with Sanitarian.

  • Attends pest control workshops and seminars to maintain skills and keep abreast of trends and applicable regulations. Provides training and education as related to pest control.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in Biological or Natural Sciences required.

  • 2 years of related experience in a field requiring the use of pesticide products required.

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • NYS/DEC registered pest control applicator in Categories 7 and 7F desirable. Required within one year of hire into role.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $19.37 - $27.12 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
