University of Rochester Research Technician II in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Position Summary :

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is seeking a ResearchTechnician II to provide direct research support in the Kim laboratory. The Research Technician II will perform non-routine laboratory assignments involving some complexity and variety, with counsel from Dr. Kim.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and performs a variety of moderately complex laboratory tests, analyses, and observations, using techniques of cellular immunology including flow and microscope.

  • Applies these techniques to evaluate interdisciplinary clinical studies and trials.

  • Extracts and analyzes experimental data; analyzes flow cytometry data using Flowjo and other proprietary software. Assesses the importance of findings in relation to the general research program.

  • Operates computer and/or peripheral equipment; Maintains quality control tracking of methods and reagent performance performing QC testing and maintenance of computerized inventory and databases

  • Prepares presentation materials for seminar presentations, publications, and preliminary data for grant submissions. Presents research results at lab meetings and assists in writing papers for publication.

  • Assists in the management of the laboratory's reagent inventory, including reagents necessary for day to day laboratory operations; keep research supplies stocked.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline, including Biological science, Immunology or related field preferred

  • 1 year performing basic sampling, monitoring or research activities, compiling and collecting data and preparing reports or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Experience with flow cytometry and microscopy preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $19.37 - $27.12 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
