In this job, you’ll be responsible for delivering programs and projects in the Customer Service technology portfolio, by providing project management, direction, and oversight to ensure high quality execution of technology projects within planned schedules and budgets. You will be partnering with multiple collaborators at various levels of management, including IT organizations (Operations, Service Management, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Controls & Compliance), IT vendors, Customer Service divisions, Finance, Supply Management, and other SCE teams.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Direct initiation, planning (scope, schedule, budget, and resources), execution, and closure by adhering to SCE IT standards and processes, for stand-alone projects or projects part of a larger scale initiative or program.

  • Lead a cross-functional team comprised of IT resources and business collaborators.

  • Lead all stages of the systems development life cycle, using a high degree of knowledge and project management experience ranging from traditional waterfall, agile, or value stream methodologies.

  • Develop project schedules, cost estimates and forecasts; maintain them with high accuracy from project inception through final release, warranty, and project closure.

  • Proactively and independently manage project risks, resolve issues, and address concerns impacting project scope, timeline, budget, and quality.

  • Conduct and facilitate regularly scheduled project team meetings and Sponsor/Executive reviews to convey general status / updates on project results, achievements, dependencies, critical blockers (issues) and high priority risks.

  • Actively monitor project quality and project performance metrics.

  • Facilitate change control to effectively manage and monitor scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Manage vendor engagements, including negotiating, reviewing, and approving vendor statements of work, contract change requests, purchase orders, and invoices to complete project work.


The essentials

  • Seven or more years of experience leading programs, projects or key business initiatives involving technology implementations.

  • Have successfully implemented software development and/or cloud deployment projects.

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, vendors and contracts.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science or Information Technology, or related field.

  • Three or more years of experience working in Information Technology in an electric utility industry.

  • Three or more years of experience with IT portfolio, customer interaction management systems, customer-facing web and mobile applications.

  • One or more years of experience implementing projects using Scrum/Agile methodology and tools such as Jira, Octane, GitHub or equivalent.

  • Professional training and certifications consistent with Project Management including PMP, Agile methodology (e.g. Scrum) certification, Six Sigma, and/or ITIL.

  • Experience managing project quality including quality assurance, metrics and quality controls.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build highly collaborative project teams and to effectively communicate to partners.

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
