In the heart of the Shell Downstream, Renewables & Energy Solutions business (DR) Shell Trading & Supply (T&S) exist to maximize sustained value creation across commodity markets in support of overarching DR objectives of material cash generation and returns on capital. The business is global in nature and focuses on four core commodity trading hubs (Houston, London, Rotterdam, and Singapore). As a business we balance out our supply chains and make use of optionality by interacting with the global oil marketplace through transactions with other Shell Group companies and with third party clients.

The Process Improvement & Innovation Team is accountable for developing and executing a Strategic Process and Innovation roadmap that will transform how the Commercial Operations Products organization executes Post Trade Execution processes. The team is accountable for the identification and scoping of business processes that would benefit from improvement, prioritizing opportunities that will enable maximum value. The team partners with Integration and Digital Technology, the delivery partners for technology / digital transformation, Business Integration and Assurance Management, Risk and Compliance Teams ensuring business requirements and value are clearly understood. Structured program management and a methodical approach to change and engage will be critical to ensure new solutions are embedded into standard ways of working across all relevant teams.

What’s the role?

As a Project Lead, you will be leading and/or supporting the commercial operations in delivering projects planned centrally by T&S. You will ensure project plan, communications, compliance, monitoring, and exception management are followed and support its development if needed.

More specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop an effective working relationship and work closely with end-to-end business partners.

  • As one Process Improvement and Innovation team with different capabilities jointly discover opportunities and effectively deliver strategic and tactical projects.

  • Support Commercial Operations in creating, improving, mapping, and documenting the processes within Life of a Deal in the complete and comprehensive way, including the elements of risk and controls.

  • Support effective Plan-Do-Check-Adjust cycle across the organization and support a culture of continuous learnings ensuring after action reviews.

  • Understand the T&S business model to be able to identify avenues for value creation within the business and drive solutions to problems arising within a project.

  • Identify and support initiative driving efficiencies in projects delivery and process improvements and in team's effectiveness and ensure business needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Support change sustainability - ensure that the benefits of process, technological and organizational change are realized and make the change a visible part of every-day business.

  • Establish networks to search for relevant information and knowledge to increase own effectiveness and smoother right-first-time project delivery.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from individuals with proven experience in project management working within Agile and waterfall-based delivery programs/projects. You’ll also bring in your knowledge of Trading or Supply Chain Operations Processes, strong financial and commercial acumen.

We also hope you possess the following skills and/or experience:

  • Able to manage change within commercial operations

  • Able to drive change, demonstrate ownership and innovative mindset

  • Work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams

  • Skilled to develop road maps, project, and process documentation

  • Experience to effectively work in a global, virtual setting

  • Skilled in stakeholders’ management - able to develop relationships, understand user pain points, translate these into business cases for solutions

  • Proactive, efficient, and delivery orientated mindset with an attention to details and solving problems

  • Resilience when under challenge, able to manage number of priorities, propose win/win solutions when there is a conflict

  • Lean/Six Sigma/Agile CIP1 certified practitioner will an advantage
