Hagerty Consulting ( www.hagertyconsulting.com ), one of the nation-s leading emergency management and homeland security consulting firms, helps public, private, and non-governmental organizations prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, emergencies, and crises.

Hagerty has successfully helped clients navigate some of the nation-s largest disasters, including 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Michael, and COVID-19. In recent years, Hagerty has worked side-by-side with state and local governments across the country to rapidly respond to industrial accidents, wildfires, and pandemics while also supporting the transition to and management of recovery operations.

We are looking for high-performing consultants for deployments of three to six months for a variety of positions in support of statewide disaster operations in California. We are seeking professionals with applied experience in incident management, planning, long-term community recovery, housing, and disaster recovery programs. Individuals may be assigned to work in Sacramento or at field offices across the State.

Ideal candidates with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) or Joint Field Office (JFO) operations, including that in support of the operations, planning, logistics, and finance/administration sections.

  • Debris management experience in a JFO environment and/or past experience supporting a debris task force.

  • Local Assistance Center (LAC) management and operations.

  • Housing operations, including coordination of housing task forces.

  • Long-term community recovery, including the Recovery Support Functions (RSFs) under the National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF).

  • Hazard mitigation program management.

  • The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) Program.

  • Environmental planning and monitoring, with consideration for the National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and California Environmental Quality Act.

In these roles, candidates must have:

  • At least two years of experience in emergency management, homeland security, and disaster recovery.

  • At least one year of working knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Response Framework (NRF), NDRF, and other federal preparedness guidance documents and policies.

  • A bachelor-s degree.

Candidates should have the ability to be calm and poised under pressure, effectively deliver multiple projects with overlapping timeframes, and remain focused when working under tight deadlines. Candidates may be asked to deploy to disaster-impacted environments, with field-based accommodations and/or austere operational environments. Candidates should be prepared to submit a writing sample.
