Position Overview:

Are you a highly skilled CNC Machinist with a passion for creating precision components and a talent for leadership? We're looking for a Group Lead CNC Machinist to join our team! In this role, you will lead and coordinate a team of machinists, assign, and monitor work, and provide support to ensure the production of high-quality parts that meet our specifications. Additionally, you will operate and maintain CNC machines, ensuring efficient and accurate output.

What your day may look like:

  • Provides work assignments and work instructions to employees throughout each workday.

  • Assists and trains employees in new job assignments.Coordinates work schedules with other Group Leaders and/or Supervisors and maintains work status.

  • Performs quality checks on work being performed.

  • Monitors employees' safety, quality, methods, and output.

  • Keeps supervision informed of work plans, status, and employee performance.

  • Assists in preparing mock-ups and prototyping first production vehicles.

  • Prepares and/or reviews employee time sheets and other labor input documents.

  • Assists the supervisor in conducting regular safety meetings.

  • Performs information inquiries and/or transactions using computer terminals to support other duties and responsibilities.

What will make you successful in this role:

  • High school or equivalent

  • Completion of formal machining Technical Training or Apprenticeship program, Technical degree, or Associates degree.

  • 3-6 years of experience operating CNC machines with SINUMERIK control. Demonstrated professional competence in machining complex designs. Experience in rail vehicle manufacturing is a plus.

  • Over 10 years of experience in machining and/or fabrication.

  • As a machining technician, machine operator, or lathe operator.

  • In-depth understanding of metalworking properties, layout setup, and hand machining operations.

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and performing precise measurements.

  • Strong skills in using precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and gauges.

  • Proficient in performing arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages accurately.

  • Skilled in creating and interpreting bar graphs to visualize data.

  • Capable of effectively training team members to enhance their skills and performance.

  • Able to efficiently coordinate daily operations within the machining cell to ensure smooth workflow and productivity.

Education and experience that will make you successful in this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least three years of experience in machining and/or fabrication. Must have practical knowledge of CNC programming.

  • Training as a machining technician, machine operator, or lathe operator is required.

  • Candidate should be highly proficient in reading blueprints.

  • Possess strong reading, writing, and math skills.

  • Experienced in using precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and gauges.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The hourly rate for this position is $29.30-39.56 plus, 10% shift differential for 2 nd shift and 20% shift differential for 3 rd shift. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
