Job Description
The medical scheduler will monitor providers' orders, identify patient information, verify all processes have been completed for timely scheduling, and work with other facilities to ensure that all orders from the provider are complete, allowing for accurate treatment. The role involves coordinating care for patients with various diagnoses, ranging from blood disorders to complex cancer diagnoses. Responsibilities include assisting patients via telephone in coordinating treatment and appointments according to provider orders, which can include office visits, treatments, labs, and imaging, with an emphasis on complete care coordination scheduling.
Responsibilities
Assist patients in scheduling office visits, treatments, and scans according to orders from the provider.
Schedule orders in queue in a timely manner.
Effectively communicate and work with team members to ensure a smooth workflow.
Maintain the appointment reminder phone system.
Cross-train in other areas, such as Prior Authorization.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of previous experience in a medical office setting, including experience with scheduling, electronic medical records, and practice management systems.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to maintain organization while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
Good customer service representative attitude.
Proven good attendance.
Work Environment
This position is for the oncology department. The role operates in a business office located downtown Salem, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. You will work alongside a team of other schedulers.
