Child Care Aides - Full- and Part-Time Positions Available

Child Development Center

Primary Function

Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a full-time and two part-time child care aides.

UPDATE: The full-time position is filled. We are still hiring part-time child care aides at this time.

These positions assist the child care teacher with creating and managing a classroom environment conducive to the learning and safety of children enrolled at the child development center.

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Assists the child care teacher with the implementation of daily plans and activities and the supervision of children
  • Assists children on the playground, during meals and on field trips
  • Participates in activities with children
  • Maintains program site and equipment and sets up learning centers
  • Communicates with parents
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • 90 clock hours of instruction (Child Care I and II) or the equivalent college course work
  • Completion of internship and/or field experience in an approved child care setting
  • Human relations skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with small children
  • Must be at least 19 years old
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment medical report and criminal background check
  • Must currently hold (or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire) the following certifications:
    • Infant and child CPR
    • ADA
    • First aid
  • Approval from the Maryland Department of Education, Office of Child Care is required
  • Must have the ability to acquire MSDE credential Level 2 within one year of hire date
  • Preference will be given to applicants who possess a Child Development Association credential

Therefore, the method we use to calculate the successful candidate's starting pay is based on the candidate's formal education and relevant work experience and how that relates to the education and work experience of our current employees in the same pay grade. The starting salary for these positions will likely not exceed $19.56 per hour, but will be no less than $15.94.


  • Full-Time
    • works 37.5 hours per week / variable daytime hours based on the needs of the center
  • Part-Time
    • works 25.0 hours per week / variable daytime hours based on the needs of the center
