SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Adjunct, Criminal Justice Forensic Sciences in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Under General supervision, teach various Criminal Justice-related classes to community college students. May be assigned to any SLCC location.

  1. Effectively prepare and teach classes to facilitate student learning.
  2. Assess and maintain records of student performance )grades and attendance).
  3. Develop, distribute, and adhere to current course outlines and/or syllabi.
  4. Demonstrate a depth of understanding in the field of Criminal Justice.
  5. Attend required training and department meetings, as invited.
  6. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to division, School, and College mission and values.
  7. Maintain a supportive attitude toward work, students, colleagues, and administration.
  8. Demonstrate depth of understanding in the management discipline.
  9. Support College policies.
  10. Coordinates student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.
  11. Other Job related duties as required.

  12. Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization

  13. Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators

  14. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments

  15. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards

  16. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades

  17. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance

  18. Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines

  19. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment

  20. Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy

  21. Maintains professional and collegial behavior

  22. Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 12 days)

  23. Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure

  24. Completes all required employee trainings

  25. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines

  26. Provides ADA accommodations as requested

  27. Other job related duties as needed
