The SLCC Nursing Program offers students a comprehensive, affordable, high quality education taught by expert health care providers with advanced degrees. Access to state-of-the-art equipment and hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings will provides the students with the science of healing and the art of compassion.

In conjunction with the course and lead instructors, the major function of adjunct nursing clinical faculty is student learning activities and evaluation in the clinical setting.

1.Receives appropriate orientation to the role and responsibilities of position. 2.Coordinates teaching and learning activities in clinical sites under direction of course instructor. 3.Communicates issues and/or concerns with course instructor. 4.Attends faculty meetings on a regular basis if available. 5.Provides input into clinical objectives, including updates, revisions and/or deletions. 6.Maintains optimal relationships with assigned clinical agencies and Salt Lake Community College. 7.Follows course syllabi in determining student learning objectives. 8.Counsels students and maintains accurate records under the direction of the course instructor. 9.Serves as role model for students. 10.Serves on Nursing Program committees if desirable. 11.Participates in professional activities and maintains membership in professional organizations. 12.Evaluates student clinical performance in conjunction with the course instructor

  1. Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization

  2. Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators

  3. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments

  4. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards

  5. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades

  6. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance

  7. Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines

  8. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment

  9. Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy

  10. Maintains professional and collegial behavior

  11. Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 12 days)

  12. Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure

  13. Completes all required employee trainings

  14. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines

  15. Provides ADA accommodations as requested

  16. Other job related duties as needed
