Job Summary

  • The Basics! The Maintenance Helper works in the Maintenance Department at the University Guest House & Conference Center, the hotel on campus; this person reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. Providing outstanding guest service to guests as well as Guest House employees is imperative to supporting our mission of “Complete Guest Satisfaction”.

  • Be flexible! This position must prioritize and change the course of action on the fly. Must have a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of the team but also be able to self-motivate and manage time well when working alone. Candidates should be open to working weekend and evening shifts.

  • Safety First! We are committed to providing a safe work environment. This means stretching, safety tips, and yes… following the rules. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand/walk for long periods/distances, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach. A demonstrated knowledge of general maintenance and related tool safety; the ability to safely set up and climb ladders; and a valid Utah driver’s license are required. A background check, paid for by the department, is required.

  • Do it all! Maintenance team members must demonstrate human relations and effective communication skills; perform routine maintenance including minor carpentry repair work, lock changes, and electrical work. Paints walls, doors, and other exposed surfaces as necessary. Follows Supervisor’s instructions to ensure work orders are completed timely. Conducts routine checks on machinery to determine maintenance required for proper operation. Transports supplies and equipment as needed. Assists in maintaining tools and equipment. May include janitorial services. A background check, paid for by the department, is required.

Responsibilities

Maintenance team members must:

  1. Semonstrate human relations and effective communication skills.

  2. Perform routine maintenance including minor carpentry repair work, lock changes, and electrical work.

  4. Follow Supervisor’s instructions to ensure work orders are completed timely.

  5. Conduct routine checks on machinery to determine maintenance required for proper operation.

  6. Transport supplies and equipment as needed.

  7. Assist in maintaining tools and equipment.

  8. May include janitorial services.

  9. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand/walk for long periods/distances, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.

Minimum Qualifications

Related experience; demonstrated knowledge of general maintenance and related tools or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb step ladders/scaffolding; and, demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

A driver’s license may be required.

This position is not responsible for providing patient care.
