OKLAND CONSTRUCTION Mechanic in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

POSITION SUMMARY Supports field operations by helping to keep Okland-owned equipment in good working order. Performs maintenance or repairs to keep equipment in repair. Duties include welding, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, troubleshooting, inspecting, and installing new equipment. Under limited supervision, performs difficult routine work related to maintenance and repair on construction equipment and tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Maintain and service Okland-owned construction equipment and tools per the manufacturer's specifications. * Using hand and power tools, perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment. * Recommend the replacement of tools or equipment as needed. * Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. * Set up new equipment as needed prior to sending it into the field. * Diagnose mechanical problems and determine the proper repair method, utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. * Record the type and cost of maintenance or repair work in maintenance logs. * Work out of town, at times, with little to no notice. * Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position. * Must supply personal-owned tools through " drive.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Help maintain a clean and organized shop. * Comply with DOT log and record regulations * Order parts, ensuring that the best pricing is obtained while cultivating relationships with multiple suppliers. * Actively participate in monthly safety meetings and work to promote a safe workplace. * Track work time to ensure proper billing. * Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * High school diploma or general education degree (GED). * At least 5 years of experience as an equipment mechanic or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Trade school certification is highly preferred. * Preferred experience with multiple different brands and types of construction equipment.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS * Must maintain a valid US driver license with a clean driving record. * Must maintain a current DOT medical card. * Forklift certification is required. * Aerial lift certification is required. * 10-hour OSHA class completion is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS * Ability to work varied shifts or extended hours, as required. * Ability to make decisions and solve problems. * Basic working knowledge of computers and email. * Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing using English. * Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. * Ability to operate hand and power tools. * Knowledge of tools,...
