Job Summary

The Center for Equity & Student Belonging ( CESB ) is committed to nurturing community and advocating for academic success among all students through tailored initiatives to support these student populations. CESB’s early belonging initiative serves as the primary resource for fostering a sense of belonging at the University of Utah, cultivating community, and equipping students for success post-graduation. Aligned with the belonging framework, CESB places a strong emphasis on fostering personal, social, academic, and post-graduate belonging among students. The Center for Equity and Student Belonging is seeking Office Assistants for various roles, including:

  • Calendar & Scheduling (1 position): Serves as primary contact for Unity Lounge Reservations

  • Marketing/Promotion (1 position): Serves as primary contact for social media posting,

  • Office Management (1 position): Serves as primary contact for office management and office task.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting CESB office tours and tabling as needed.

  • Copying, filing, data entry, approving/monitoring Unity Lounge reservations, maintaining supplies in work room, printer, and copiers, collecting and processing mail and packages

  • Answering emails and phone calls

  • Acting as a role model of positive behavior, representing the University with pride and respect.

  • Advocating for the interests, needs, and rights of students.

Preferences

  • Must be a current University of Utah student with at least 1 semester completed (Fall or Spring) required for the intended semester of serving as a peer mentor.

  • Essential personal attributes for this role include familiarity with campus resources, active involvement on campus, maturity, approachability, dependability, flexibility, and strong communication skills. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to model appropriate behavior, maintain confidentiality, and mentor students effectively.

  • Enthusiasm for the university, its student body, faculty, staff, and both academic and co-curricular aspects of university life is essential.

  • Dedication to motivating students towards achieving University of Utah goals and ideals.

  • Availability to work a minimum of 12 in-person hours per week.

Special Instructions Summary

These positions are for the 2024-2025 Academic School year. Selected individuals may work during the 2024 summer if they are eligible to receive Federal Work Study in the Summer. Timeline: – Virtual Interviews will be held: May 6th – May 10th
