Job Summary

Postdoctoral Positions in Cardiometabolic Physiology

The Aromolaran Lab at The Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute ( CVRTI ), University of Utah (https://aromolaranlab.cvrti.utah.edu/) is seeking a creative, energetic and motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate the molecular mechanisms of cardiac remodeling that are acquired in metabolic disorders (obesity, diabetes, and inflammation). We utilize heterologous expression systems (HEK293, CHO cells, and macrophage cell lines) and cardiomyocytes isolated from guinea pigs, rodents (mice and rats), and humans as well as pre-clinical animal models. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in basic and translational research using state-of-the art approaches in molecular biology, as well as other related approaches including electrophysiology, flow cytometry, biochemistry, DNA cloning and plasmid development, and optical imaging. The successful candidate will be expected to hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with experience (within 2 years of graduating) in cardiac biology, myocyte isolation, cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, inflammation or imaging. Expertise in molecular biology and/or electrophysiology approaches is highly preferred. The candidate will be expected to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, think critically, and work independently.
