Responsibilities
The Role This position will be responsible for the management of the procurement team and overall department performance for the division. This includes maintaining and analyzing warehousing data and understanding JIT supply chain management and forecasting. Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To * Directly supervise and mentor purchasing personnel * Oversee team workflow/responsibilites ona day-to-day basis, assist other eram members with planning and problem solving internally and externally. * Oversight of department performance metrics to include margins, inventory, category management and shrinkage/spoilage. * Negotiate competitive FOB pricing, volume opportunities, contracts and rebate agreements. * Hold vendors accountable to fill rate, good delivery standards, communication and pricing schedules. * Support established logistical procedures to facilitate product arrival. * Communicate effectively to divisions management and/or staff * Leverage data analysis tools to monitor, report and make decisions on items, commodities and business trends. * Maintain awareness of market trends, technology and food safety * Maintain awareness of Company's marketing strategies and competitive activity * All employees are responsible for food safety and are expected to notify the appropriate manager, supervisor, or key personnel if they witness any compromise to food safety or food quality * Some travel required: visiting growers and attending produce conventions. * Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Preferred Skills and Experience * Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience * Minimum of 5 years of perishable food procurement experience * Strong purchasing knowledge in the procurement of raw materials, ingredients and food packaging supplies * Strong negotiating skills * Strong Math and Writing skills required to quickly multiply and add cases/pallets and calculate product cost, market, and margin * Proficient in effectively managing a dynamic workload that entails both time-sensitive daily responsibilities as well as less time-bound tasks, ensuring timely completion of assigned workload. * Be able to set...
