MUSTANG ENGINEERING Senior Project Manager - Mining & Minerals in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Project Manager has overall responsibility for the delivery of assigned projects in terms of cost, schedule, technical conformance, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) and quality, ensuring compliance with company and project procedures.

The Project Manager is responsible for all contract matters during the project execution, ensuring all obligations of Wood are met, and has financial accountability for project results including revenue, margin and overhead management, cost controls, invoicing, and cash collection.

The Project Manager ensures that the project is properly resourced, provides direction and mentorship to staff, assigns work, supervises activities and coordinates across project interfaces.

The Project Manager must develop project-wide effective lines of communication and maintain a good working relationship with the client. The Project Manager manages difficulties and issues that arise on the project, keeps relevant people inf ormed, and ensures that corrective action is taken when project objectives are not being met.

Responsibilities:

Contributes to and reviews the project proposal and plan to determine timeframe, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project. Ensure effective handover from business development in relation to kick-off documentation and project contract or work order. Arranges client and internal project kickoff meetings. Ensure Project Scope of Services and Scope of Work is performed, and project objectives are developed and met. Negotiates changes to project scope or specification with the customer. Manage the timely preparation, approval, and effective implementation of the project-specific Project Management Plan (PMP) and Procedures, Instructions and Forms (PIFs). Authorize Project Mobilization and Demobilization Plans. Authorize project HSSE requirements including Performance Goals, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Process , Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan, HSSE training and monitor HSSE meetings/committees. Develop and implement the Project Execution Strategy, Information Management Plan and Staffing Plan. Authorize all project work plans, strategies, methodologies, and schedules. Approve and control Project Design Basis, Principal Design Documents, test work, investigations, surveys, analysis, and technical studies. Develop and maintain project coordination processes including Organization Structure, Approval Matrix, Limits of Authority, Communications Interface Matrix, Function List, Key Stakeholder Contact List, Information Needs List and Project Review Action Log. Manage the development and implementation of all Project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Work Packages, cost control systems, and progress and performance monitoring systems. Authorize, monitor, and review all project components including administration, document cont rol, project control, software, staff planning, purchasing and contractual processes/systems. Manage all project budgets, cost plans, capital cost budgets, capital expenditure and financial and commercial matters. Develop and manage project-specific change and risk management systems. Ensure project requirements for permits, licenses, and regulatory agency approvals are met and up to date. Organize and lead planning sessions, team building workshops and coordination meetings. Ensure an appropriate review process is implemented for the project including internal and Client project reviews, risk reviews, constructability, and independent peer reviews. Oversee and authorize project reports including accident, incident and near miss, monthly progress reports, other technical reports, regular and special project reports. Ensure effective validation and close-out of pro ject including archiving of all relevant data and d ocumentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Qualifications:

Und rgraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering from a recognized university. Experience in managing greenfield, or large brownfield projects is required ($100M-$500M) Over 15 years of experience in an EPC / EPCM environment, with construction / project execution, supporting the mining industry. Must have at least 10 years of increasing responsibility as a project manager. Mining, minerals and or metals project experience is required. Will consider candidates with a combination of a minimum of 5 years mining or minerals project experience, along with heavy civil, petrochemical, or O&G project experience. Completion of a diploma or degree in a certified project management program is preferred. Excellent communication skills.

Job Requirements:

Willingness to travel approximately 40% to 60% of the time. Authorization to lawfully work in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.
