The Upward Bound Project is a federally funded program to encourage post-secondary preparation of high school students who are from low-income families and are first-generation college-bound students (the first in their family to go to college). The summer academy for 2024 consists of an intensive, six-week in-person academic program during which the students receive high school enrichment instruction in English, financial literacy, foreign language, mathematics, and science. Supervised recreation, guidance and peer advising, and career exploration are also provided. Teachers will assists with the coordination, design and production of classes for Upward Bound Academy in classrooms on campus.Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area, or equivalency; knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods in order to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects in order to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
