To qualify, you must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2022 internship will start on June 1, 2022 and last through August 12, 2022.

Job Description Summary:

Supports USAA Ethics Programs and the Ethics Program Office. The ethics team is responsible for promoting ethics as a strategic business initiative at an enterprise level. General activities include contributing to the development of enterprise communications, policies and guidelines related to ethics programs and process administration. This team serves as trusted internal consultants to employees and leadership on matters pertaining to corporate ethics and investigation of suspected and reported violations of USAA’s ethics policies and standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify existing and emerging risks that stem from within business activities and the job role.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are optimally identified, measured, controlled and oversees.

  • Follow written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.

  • Provides direct operational support to Lead and Senior Ethics Advisors to successfully implement sub-programs such as communications, training, special projects, analysis and reporting under the larger USAA Ethics program.

  • Conducts research and reviews of laws, regulations, current events, policy interpretation, best methods, benchmarking, etc. for business impact and in support of ethics sub-programs and initiatives.

  • Applies an ethical systems, to include ethics case management and conflict of interest tool, and assists with compiling and analyzing data to provide relevant information to oversight authorities, the business and leadership.

  • Coordinates ethics cases received via the Ethics Helpline or other ethics intake channels.

  • Handles non-complex conflict of interest disclosure processing via the Conflict of Interest tool.

  • Provides ethics advice on non-complex inquiries such as conflicts of interest, gifts and entertainment, etc. and makes referrals to more appropriate USAA resources where appropriate.

Minimum Education:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management or related field at a 4-year accredited university

  • Graduation date cannot be prior to August 12, 2022

Minimum Experience:

  • 0 to 2 years of related experience and accountability for simple to moderately complex tasks and/or projects required

  • Foundational and conceptual knowledge of the function/discipline and demonstrated application of knowledge, skills and abilities towards work products required.

  • Foundational level of business acumen in the areas of the business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required

Preferred Education:

  • Graduation date between August 13, 2022 and July 2023

Preferred Experience:

  • Basic knowledge of information technology/security

  • Basic knowledge of reporting and analysis, and control testing

Compensation :

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market position. The hourly range for this position is: $18 - $30

Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.
