Job Title: HVAC Technician

Job Description

The Commercial Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems. This role requires a deep understanding of refrigeration theory, electrical schematics, pneumatics, electronic control systems, pipe fitting, welding/brazing, and mechanical layouts. You will work primarily in a manufacturing facility and must have experience with Daikin units, Innovent & Trane RTU’s. Responsibilities include using recovery units, pulling a vacuum, using basic hand tools, installing and removing compressors, soldering copper pipes up to 2-1/8”, and working on RTU’s up to 250 tons. You must also have basic electrical skills, be able to inspect for grounded compressors, check motors and fuses, read an amp meter, and work with 3 phase compressors and 480v systems.

Hard Skills

  • Experience with Daikin units, Innovent & Trane RTU’s

  • Using recovery units

  • Pulling a vacuum

  • Using basic hand tools

  • Installing and removing compressors

  • Soldering copper pipes up to 2-1/8”

  • Working on RTU’s up to 250 tons

  • Basic electrical skills

  • Inspecting grounded compressors

  • Checking motors and fuses

  • Reading an amp meter

  • Working with 3 phase compressors

  • 480v systems

  • EPA Universal certification

  • Knowledge of 40 ton compressors or better

  • Industrial RTU’s

  • Low voltage 480v to 24v

  • Troubleshooting skills

  • Using voltage meters

  • Knowledge of digital and manual gauges

  • Working with R410A, R32A, and/or R23 refrigerants

  • Understanding micro-controller boards

  • ABB Drives

  • Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Basic computer skills for emails and updating work orders

  • T/S High & Low sensors

  • Pressure sensors

Soft Skills

  • Good troubleshooting skills

  • Self-motivated starter

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in San Antonio, Texas.

Work Environment

Manufacturing environment, can be noisy. Requires steel toes, safety glasses, and long pants with no holes or tears. Day shift starting between 6-9 a.m. and ending around 4-6 p.m.
