Winland Foods Plant Maintenance Manager in San Antonio, Texas

The plant maintenance manager plans, organizes and manages all short term and long term maintenance activity. Oversee the maintenance PM and equipment repairs for a food manufacturing plant. Hire, develop and manage all maintenance labor and budgets. Work with all management to develop, justify, propose, and execute capital projects.

Job Description:

Responsibilities :

  • Working closely with the EHS committee, ensuring we maintain a safe working environment and remain compliant with environmental regulations.

  • Maintain facility / production line conditions in order to meet established GMP’s and Food Safety Regulations.

  • Establish and maintain departmental SOP’s to meet this goal.

  • Monitor production line efficiency and quality, while providing continuous communication with production team, as necessary.

  • Create, manage, and track budget accounts for utilities, R&M equipment, machinery supplies, outside services and maintenance labor.

  • Collaborate with production manager and plant scheduler to assure production needs and changes can be met.

  • Provide leadership as a member of the management staff to all areas of the plant facility.Take time to coach maintenance employees as needed.

  • Manage / coordinate quotes from vendors and oversee outside contractors working in the facility, on the building or with equipment.

  • In the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager will serve as a backup, managing the Lead Maintenance Techs and their subordinates. In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, the Plant Manager will serve as backup.

Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Analysis reporting tied to key department metrics

  • As a member of the plant management team, provide regular feedback to employees and management staff.

  • Ability to drive continuous improvements, by working with Corporate engineers, local supervisors and management team to assure development, feasibility and implementation of projects and processes.

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.

  • Analysis of CDC / DPR production data with ability to prioritize and re-act to improvement opportunities to assure efficient production line speeds and product handling. (Always looking for new, innovative ways to conserve energy and reduce costs).

  • Ensure safety audit tasks are prioritized and completed.

  • Monitor / manage capital projects

  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills, Financial/Business Acumen, Innovation, Directing and Developing others, Effective communication (both written and verbal)

  • Ability to effectively multitask, manage time, set schedules, prioritize assignments, and maintain accountability.

  • Strong leadership to effectively work and interact with others providing guidance, when necessary.

  • Solid problem solving skills

  • Knowledge of developing preventive maintenance procedures

Qualifications/Education/Other Knowledge:

  • Previous Food Manufacturing experience

  • At least 5 to 7 years as a Maintenance Manager preferred

  • Bachelors Degree Preferred: Degree in Engineering or related field preferred but not required.

  • MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, SAP, PLC programming would be a plus as well as SAO PM experience.
