Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$36.588 - $47.210 - $57.833

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

The Account Executive-Laboratory's (LAE) primary function is to grow the laboratory outreach service business and generate sales in the surrounding medical community. The LAE is accountable for growing revenue through strategic and targeted strategic and meeting/exceeding stated goals. In addition, the LAE is also responsible for providing secondary support in delivering on-going customer service to existing accounts and coordinating marketing activities to existing clients.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Marketing or Science

  • 5 years' experience in a clinical and/or anatomic pathology laboratory service direct sales position, preferably in the San Diego market, with demonstrated success directly growing revenue.

  • Driver's License - CA Department of Motor Vehicles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Business Administration.

  • Solution Selling Process program or equivalent. This training may occur after the LAE has begun their job duties.

  • Outreach sales experience

  • Experience in a clinical and/or anatomic pathology laboratory

Other Qualification Requirements

  • Utilizes reliable transportation and possesses adequate personal insurance coverage. Demonstrates clean driving record in accordance with requirements of the employer DMV pull notice program and Sharp HealthCare Driver Guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology marketing, the sales process and strong customer service skills.

  • Strong knowledge of San Diego payor and medical laboratory outreach marketplace, including customers, competition and market trends.

  • Must have demonstrated ability to operate independently in a complex organization. Must have demonstrated ability to sell and service medical laboratory service lines and to effectively communicate both written and verbally.

  • Must have ability to self-direct effectively and manage time, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Must be capable of independent judgment and decision-making.

  • Must be able to build and manage physician relationships.

  • Must possess ability to prepare written proposals, utilizing available resources while meeting pre-determined deadlines.

  • Must demonstrate effective oral presentation skills

  • Must demonstrate ability to work as part of a service team and operate in a dynamic and growing program with great flexibility.

Essential Functions

  • Sales GrowthResponsible for growing the revenue from new accounts., includes increasing all laboratory service outreach revenue, testing volume and patient visits in assigned geographic areas according to stated annual goals.Develop sales strategy and build client relationship, develops comprehensive plans, and delivers value propositions which result in new client contracts.Effectively target and secure profitable clients in line with growth strategy.Create a clear goal for the territory in charge. Strategically formulate strategy for targeted client for the territory and identify qualified value segments.Collaborate with the service delivery team to ensure clients receive highest level of service during their on-boarding phase.

  • Client ServicesDevelop new clinical and anatomic business sales, to include growth in testing volume and patient visits in assigned geographic area according to stated annual goals, through existing clientele utilizing all available databases and keeping abreast of business opportunities, technical laboratory developments within Sharp HealthCare, developing positive business relationships.Be able to give appropriate pricing and new test or methodology information to clients or potential clients in a timely manner.Serve as a resource for client training in laboratory specimen collection, transfer and billing procedures.Utilize excellent presentation and follow-up skills and use strong product knowledge to increase business for new and existing accounts.Participate in appropriate volunteer functions, associations and chambers to facilitate professional networking.Provide after the sale customer service to new physician clients in geographic territory.Contact with existing clients to discuss new projects and solve problems associated with laboratory services from Sharp HealthCare.Work with laboratory and customer service staff to solve logistics and technical service problems within existing clientele.Solve billing problems referred by current or new laboratory accounts.Provide in-service to clients as necessary (i.e. order of tube draw, specimen labeling, etc.)Demonstrate effective self-direction and time management skills.Execute assignments and reports in a timely manner while maintaining communication with supervisor, physicians and coordinators in geographic territory.Utilize appropriate tools and resources to maximize job performance.Manage relations/communications with supervisor, manager, medical director, physicians, administrative staff and co-workers.Utilizes all equipment (including phone, copier, fax, etc.) instruments, products, and other tools per manufacturer's and training instructions and according to established procedures; facilitates issue resolution.Demonstrates competency and efficient use of all tool applications (IS, PC, other system/software) and equipment to produce the end product.

  • Quality AssuranceDemonstrates process of self-discovery, including knowledge of strengths and weaknesses and views deficiencies as opportunities for growth; sets goals for self-improvement.Communicates clearly using tools Closed Loop and SBAR.Receives feedback well and provides thoughtful feedback to others.Create monthly business report and trend for appropriate actionable items.
