Job Summary:

The Air Operations Instructor/Course Manager will support active duty instructors in the EODTEUONE Air Operations division instructing, division managing the currency and accuracy of course documents, student testing, instructional staff, instructional materials, training resources, student control, and evaluation for the Air Operations and Tactical Training Course, Air (TTCA) Course Identifier Number (CIN) courses of instruction (COI). Additionally, serve as a subject matter expert in each specific COI and augment instructor staff, as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Qualify in all Air Operations and TTCA CIN courses of instruction.

  • Manage HRST inventory and phase replacement. Order new equipment, as necessary.

  • Coordinate aircraft support for Air Ops COI and currency events.

  • Coordinate medical support for Air Ops events.

  • Write and submit Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM).

  • Coordinate boat support with EOD Expeditionary Support Unit One (ESU-1) for Air Ops events

  • Schedule ranges for Air Ops events

  • Manage contract usage for wind tunnel hours used and blade hours used.

  • Scheduling for both wind tunnel and currency events.

  • Scheduling for contractors, work closely with loft manager and operations manager to submit dates, times and locations where contractor support is required. Accumulate requirements and submit requirements to COR.

  • Develop and submit event After Action Reports (AAR).

  • Review all Instructor Lesson Plans for technical accuracy.

  • Review all test items, quizzes, homework, and other instructional materials for completeness and conformity with the curriculum, submitting written recommendations for change to the division leadership.

  • Note deficiencies/discrepancies in training equipment, devices, instructional aids, and material and submit written recommendations to the division leadership.

  • Maintain proficiency in instructional techniques as set forth in Navy’s Journeyman Instructor Training Course or equivalent.

  • Maintain proficiency in the use of training aids, equipment, devices, and instructional materials necessary to teach assigned topics.

  • Interface with the Curriculum Control Authority (CCA) to ensure that training courses support established training and qualification requirements.

  • Ensure courses and training products are properly updated to provide maximum combat effectiveness, readiness, and cost capture for baseline budgeting and optimal resource management.

  • Demonstrated skill in identification, analysis, and resolution of training safety issues.

  • Conduct instructor technique evaluations for initial course qualification.

Qualifications:

  • Be able to qualify in the HRST/cast master and Tactical Training Course Air Ops (TTC) Course Identifier Number (CIN) courses of instruction.

  • Must be familiar with and knowledgeable on HRST/C and jumping publications to include Navy, NSW, SOCOM, and Army manuals

  • Be able to serve as safety swimmer for Air Ops events (previous SPECWAR/OPS or NSW swimmer qual)

  • Must have relevant EOD Air Operations experience within the last 5 years. Background desirable to articulate how air operations are used in real world operations and how techniques are applicable to EOD.

  • Graduate of a Military service Instructor Course

  • Honorably Discharged from Active-Duty Military service if applicable.

  • Must meet Navy High-Risk Training requirements as outlined in OPNAVINST 1500.75 series.

  • Possess or qualify for a Security Clearance of SECRET
