Rady Children's Hospital San Diego Behavior Technician (Autism) - Alexa's PLAYC in San Diego, California

JOB SUMMARY:

The Toddler and Preschool Inclusion Centers are integrated, early education programs that include typically developing children, as well as children at risk for autism/pervasive developmental disorders. The Behavior Technician (Autism) plans for and provides the daily routine, management, and supervision of the children assigned to him/her, and coordinates efforts with other teachers in the classroom. Within the program's daily schedule, ensures each child has the opportunity to create, explore, and learn problem solving and critical thinking skills through self-initiated and teacher-directed activities. Ensures that the center meets or exceeds licensing regulations. Trains parents of children with special needs to implement classroom techniques at home.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree

2 years of experience

Current California Driver’s License

Proof of Auto Insurance

BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA

First aid certification required

6 months experience with special needs children (0-5 years) including Autism Spectrum or other related developmental disorders

12 units in Child Development complete (3 units Child, Family and Community, 3 units Child Development 101, 3 units ECE Curriculum, and 3 units Infant Toddler Development) or 6 units in Child Development complete and currently enrolled in remaining courses with the expectation to complete the remaining classes within 6 months

Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Enrolled in Master's degree program or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)

3 years of experience

Experience in an early childhood special education setting

The expected hiring range for this position is $22.00 to $30.26
