BAE Systems Craft Manager - Pipe in San Diego, California

Job Description

Manage the long term/short term planning, resourcing, management and execution of all San Diego Ship Repair activities related to Pipe department.

Overall Responsibility for trade across all ships in the shipyard

Ensures workforce is distributed equally to meet schedule demands

Ensures crews are proficient to execute all activities on assigned projects

Reports to the Craft Manager II, Craft Manager III and the Director of Operations

Coordinate directly with Ship Managers to support schedule adherence, cost performance, and quality performance.

  • Ensures that the trade is pursuing Company goals for Safety, Quality and Productivity.

  • Ensures that the employees understand and adhere to Company policies.

  • Monitor and evaluates project budget performance, including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, development of productivity enhancements, investigation of overrun items and EVM management understanding.

  • Develops and/or reviewing projects schedules and budgets during the planning phase.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience in leading ship repair teams across designated craft/trades.

  • Minimum 8 years of practical experience at deck plate management of marine Pipe Fitting activities.

  • Minimum 4 years of practical experience at managing Pipe Fitter activities on multiple large projects (3 or more) at the Foreperson/Craft Supervisor level.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with Southwest Regional Maintenance Center ( SWRMC)

  • Ability to interview and evaluate potential Pipe Fitter and Pipe Welder applicants.

  • Ability to develop and execute effective production schedules.

  • Ability to effectively manage, Materials, Machinery and resources in support of daily and long term Pipe dept. activities.

  • Ability to motivate and manage large groups of Pipe Fitters and Pipe Welders.

  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds and frequently traverse Navy & Commercial Ships.

  • Must be able to obtain credentials to access Military base ( DBIDS)

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Proven proficiency at the interpretation application and execution of the requirements of Technical publications/Mil std's "248", "248", "7000", "2035", "22D", Navsea STD Items" and Mil-STD-777 as they pertain to pipe fabrication and machinery repair activities.

  • Proven proficiency at the understanding and use of various computer programs.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $96470 - $164010

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
