Insight Global Electrical Engineer in San Diego, California

Job Description

This person will prepare and maintain design studies, drawings and engineering calculations under supervision. This person will communicate with other departments and provide them with technical assistance and information. This person will take an active role in problem resolution teams and interface with other Engineering groups, Production, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Vendors, Regulatory Bodies, and other disciplines as required.

Essential Functions & Duties

  • Perform design analysis and support calculations for engineering product development

  • Support the development of ship designs and/or underlying calculations and documentation

-Support research into internal (e.g. production, planning) and external customers (e.g. ABS, Navy, USCG) issues and interpretations

-Demonstrate oral and written communication skills, including through e-mail, drafting presentations, reports, and other correspondence for review by more senior personnel. Participates in internal working groups, including documenting discussions, decisions, and outcomes

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience designing large power distribution systems (aerospace, commercial construction, maritime)

  • 5+ years of experience creating models/diagrams based on a set of regulations/conditions

  • CADD proficiency

  • Demonstrated proficiency doing design calculations such as voltage drop, power, etc. - 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks)

  • C Sharp experience (C#)

  • Attendance of maritime school (Cal Maritime Academy, Maine Maritime Academy, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Suny Maritime College, King Point Maritime Academy)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

  • AVEVA or Tribon experience null
