Tactical Engineering & Analysis, INC Network Engineer in San Diego, California

Overview

We are currently seeking a Network Enginner to support DARPA Distributed Experimentation Environment (DE2) efforts. This position directly supports the DARPA Program Manager on site at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific in San Diego, CA. Support includes designing and implementing communicaiton solutions in support of test and experimentation objectives.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Design and implement communications solutions whch can be deployed to field/remote locations to connect secure facilities and support the exchange of required data.
  • Have a working knowledge of DoD Information Assurance (IA) policies to be applied to the design and maintenance of communications solutions.
  • Assist the Experimentation Lead in designing and implementing networking solutions to support experimentation and long term Information System (IS) management goals. Installing and configuring network equipment and providing support ot systems administrators.
  • Manage firewall rules across multiple networks / enclaves and implement changes to support experimentation while keeping data and communications protected.
  • Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance and lead troubleshooting, efforts to resolve, networking issues between local and external sites.
  • Manage and maintain a library of network engineering tools that can be used for system testing and diagnosis of network-related system issues both locally and abroad.
  • Apply leading-edge principles, theories and concepts to the development, maintenance, and implementation of network engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintaining current knowledge and implement best practices in networking security to offer the best solutions and protection to information systems.

Equipment Used:

  • Computer/Equipment lab, various electronic test equipment.
  • Cisco, Dell, Palo Alto, NSA crypto - networking devices.

Typical Working Conditions:

  • General office environment;
  • Computer/Equipment lab

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Potential domestic travel less than 10% of the time by automobile, air, etc.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard and mouse on a consistent basis.

Written Communications:

  • Operates standard computer based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency.

Verbal Communications:

  • Demonstrates excellent, clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Active communicator - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.
Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Requires 5-10 years experience with implementation and understanding of Network Engineering principles in a professional environment.
  • Requires 5-10 years experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of network architectures.

Work Schedule:

  • 9/80
  • Ability to work within company and customer schedule requirements which may vary depending on criticality and necessity of a given task.

Travel:Up to 10%

Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Information Systems or Information Technology

Certifications:

IAT Level 1 (CompTIA Security + and CCNA)

Pay Range:$100,000 to $135,000 annually, DOE.

U.S. Citizenship is required

Security Clearance: Top Secret Highly Desired

Candidates must have an active secret clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required.
