The Clinical Pharmacist I will work in the main pharmacy at Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista,with opportunity to cover clinical shifts as well.The Pharmacy Department at Scripps Mercy Chula Vista prides themselves on the care delivered to their community. Our Pharmacists work closely and collaboratively with the health care team to ensure our patients receive excellent care during their hospital stay. They also work closely with patients, caregivers, and family to ensure their medication-related needs are met before discharge. The ideal candidate will have hospital experience with performing pharmacy consults, working on the floors with nurses and physicians, and educating patients.
Responsibilities include:
- Primarily operation focused centrally based; participates in direct patient care as clinical competencies are approved and on approved shifts.
- Documents the care provided to patients.
- Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate.
- Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy.
- Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy.
- Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title.
- Demonstrates ability to perform competencies and prescription authorities as approved by the medical staff.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree
* Required Certification/Registration:*
- California Pharmacist License
- AHA BLS
- ACLS certification required prior to being trained to respond to codes, can be obtained within 6 months of hire
* Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:*
· PGY1 residency or 3 years' experience in relevant practice area.
