Rady Children's Hospital San Diego Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant - Hematology/Oncology OP in San Diego, California

We are looking for a highly motivated, team oriented MA/Phlebotomist to join our HemOnc Outpatient team. The shift is 8 hours/day working Monday to Friday. Requires previous phlebotomy experience, with Pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Laboratory Assistant/Medical Assistant is responsible for a variety of specimen collections on children, both inpatients and outpatients, specimen processing, referral test analysis, preparation and shipping, registration and lab test order entry, hospital/departmental computer procedures, Microbiology specimen processing and departmental instrument maintenance. Under the direct supervision of an RN/licensed practitioner, the assistants (MA, PCA, and C.N.A) are responsible for providing and documenting nursing care for patients and associated tasks as delegated by the RN/licensed practitioner. It is the role of these assistant employees to partner with RN/licensed practitioner and other team members to provide optimal patient care. These employees follow through with care as directed utilizing established policies, procedures and guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

H.S. Diploma, GED, or Equivalent

1 year of experience

California Licensure Phlebotomy Technician with at least 1 year of Phlebotomy experience

A Medical Assistant (MA) graduate with at least 6 months of Medical Assistant experience, or Current

California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with at least 6 months of healthcare experience

Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA

Bilingual - Spanish (Hematology/Oncology only)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's Degree

2 Years of Experience

Bilingual - Spanish

The current salary range for this position is $22.63 to $30.86
