Plans, manages and controls the activities of a team or teams responsible for creating and enhancing the experience and functionality of user interfaces for company products, including websites, software, hardware, and tools. Leads the development of methodologies, tools and practices for researching, aggregating and analyzing data on design trends, consumer and user markets and marketing and brand insights to develop user profiles and design standards. Directs the development, testing and evaluation of results for storyboards, samples, prototypes and templates for proposed changes; partners and manages relationships with senior leadership, marketing, product management and product development to communicate results, ensure compliance with desired user experience and approve specifications and requirements for the look, feel and functionality of products. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Employees who lead teams whose responsibilities include actual coding and software or Web development should be matched to UI/UX Engineering. Employees who lead teams whose responsibilities center around the look and feel of physical components of hardware and equipment should be matched to Industrial Design Management.
